Bio

There's a time in every man's life when he stands at the crossroads. Do you make your mark on this life? Or do you slink away into anonymity? A choice must be made and there is no looking back. Sean Nearhoff has stood that test. Now with his soulful fusion of playfully poignant lyrics, emotion-soaked live performances and true to life songwriting, this powerful new voice is asking listeners, "What kind of a man are you looking for?"

That's a mighty big question for a young man to answer. It's that fiery ambition and relentless passion though that make this ambitious 26 year-old native of Southern California so undeniably attractive. Enthusiasm is contagious. Earning comparisons to the like of John Mayer and Gavin DeGraw, Sean is earning a legion of devoted fans in and around Los Angeles as he proves why songwriters with a genuine, obvious passion for their craft can't help but attract an audience.

First picking up a guitar in his late teens, Sean traveled through cover bands and pop-punk outfits before college and the eventual four-year ride through the drab corporate machine of business. The music never died though. Sean kept playing at San Jose and Los Angeles coffeehouses and winning over small legions of fans. "I couldn't concentrate at meetings," Sean explains. "All that was going through my mind were tunes and lyrics. I had to get them out or I would explode."

With his first single "What Kind Of Man," Sean romantically explodes and explores modern love with a sophisticated, accessible rock accented with striking musicianship and Sean's sweet wit. Often compared to Elvis Costello, Sean's voice defies categories as he wraps his lyrics around the energetic, hip-shaking single that's attracting new fans through airplay on KCLA 99.3FM, whose own Sheena Metal describes Sean as "a voice full of soul and a mind ripe with wry wit, he's musically clever, cunning and contagious."

As the new single announces, Sean is full of the questions everyone in their 20's and 30s struggles through. Who am I? Where am I going? When will love finally come? Sean's intimate emotionally poignant live performances and raw, eloquent song craft are an open book on his journey of discovery that takes listeners through the words they wish they could sing.

"I make music the only way I know how, honestly letting my soul out of its cage. These songs are who I am; this is me playing my heart out."

And that's exactly how Sean is winning over crowds lining up to listen.

With a healthy diet of songwriting greats Stevie Wonder, Diane Warren, John Mayer, and even a little R. Kelly, Sean had honed his craft with a purpose.

"Songwriting is losing yourself as you discover," Sean explains. "When you can offer people that piece of you, that's what keeps them listening."

And they are. With critically praised showcases and performances at The Whiskey, The Gig, 14 Below, Roxy and Ghengis Cohen, the formerly shy church boy with the acoustic guitar is becoming a singer/songwriting force to watch.

What kind of man are you looking for? Down to earth emotion? Powerfully fresh honesty? And soul-soaked songwriting? Sean is delivering as he continues to grab attention with raw, heart-bearing songs that make you feel every last word.
