Bio

Sean Peori: Biography

Singer/songwriter Sean Peori is a rarity in music. Sean has both a voice that never fails to amaze and captivate audiences and a prolific song writing ability.

“I never expected to find a hothouse of talent from my home town of Deep River, Ontario,” said Grammy award winning producer Malcolm Burn. Upon hearing Sean, Malcolm readily agreed to produce a demo CD, a CD that masterfully captures Sean’s new sound. A sound so new, Malcolm could not slot it into any current musical category.

Strongly influenced by Radiohead and Coldplay, Sean’s sound also contains hints of both Robert Plant and David Bowie. His powerful and unique voice easily moves through a broad vocal range similar to Robert Plant’s to whom Sean has often been compared.

Born and raised to age nine in Cape Breton NS, Sean exhibited a keen interest and aptitude for music from an early age. At age six, he began to learn piano by ear and later with instruction. This pattern was repeated later with guitar after his family moved to Deep River, Ontario.

In Ontario, Sean’s interest and ability in music flourished. In high school, Sean studied classical percussion in music classes where he consistently made top marks. When Sean formed his first band, his vocal talent became obvious. Sean went on to form a number of successful local bands that performed extensively through the Ottawa Valley often performing original material. After high school, Sean outgrew the local talent and began performing solo.

In 2002, Sean moved to Salt Spring, BC where professionals immediately recognized his talent. After his first performance at the Tree House Café, Matt Johnson of 54-40 expressed interest in managing Sean. Tom Hooper, former front man for The Grapes of Wrath who also heard Sean that night, eventually produced and performed on Sean’s first demo CD. Sean continued to perform and play venues on Salt Spring Island, Vancouver Island and in Vancouver.

During a visit to Deep River, Ontario, Sean made contact with producer Malcolm Burn. After listening to the demo produced by Tom Hooper, Malcolm expressed interest in the unique songs. This chance meeting resulted in a six-song demo CD produced in only three days in Malcolm’s studio in Kingston NY. During the recording, Malcolm, Adam Snyder (front man of Mercury Rev) and Sandrine Daniels (Australian pop star), all of whom performed on the demo, agreed that Sean has a sound that would make it.

Sean is currently living on Hornby Island, BC where he continues to perform and write new songs. Music is and always will be Sean’s life. Music was Sean’s first love to which he will always remain faithful.
