GET A LITTLE "ACTION"
Sean Smith is about to re-release his album ACTION CITY with new artwork and photos by Mara Taber. "ACTION CITY" was released digitally in late 2008. Physical copies will now be available at cdbaby as well as live shows. Produced by DAVID IMMERGLUCK (guitarist, COUNTING CROWS), the album features Chris Seefried (LOW STARS) on guitars and backing vocals, drummer extraordinaire DON HEFFINGTON and Immergluck on various guitars and bass. ACTION CITY boast a big rock sound over a laid back acoustic/Americana vibe, with tasteful lead guitar and even a little fuzz bass thrown in courtesy of Immergluck.
Of working together on ACTION CITY, Immergluck says "Sean's vivid songwriting just keeps getting better and better! East meets West again as the New York punk poet travels to the Golden state to randomly fuse the transcendental with some old fashioned NY urban grit...One of the most satisfying recordings I have had the pleasure of being part of"

ACTION CITY is the follow up to 2006 'UNDERACHIEVER"
a five-song EP with four of the songs also produced by IMMERGLUCK, featuring Crows keyboardist CHARLIE GILLINGHAM on piano, organ and Wurlitzer, as well as wailing lap steel and pedal steel guitars played by Immergluck (who also lends a hand on bass, acoustic guitars and backing vocals when needed).LOW STARS' CHRIS SEEFRIED rounds out the session with lush harmonies and haunting piano bits reminiscent of"Hunky Dory" era Bowie. "Girl in the Movie," was produced by fellow NYC singer/songwriter JESSE MALIN, and features CHRISTINE SMITH (MALIN, RYAN ADAMS, MARAH) on piano and organ, and backing vocals.
Smith's music hearkens to Paul Westerberg, Elvis Costello, and Joe Strummer in its lyrical preciseness, raw moods, wit grit, and power.

"I've always been influenced by great songwriting...I love Paul Westerberg, Elvis Costello, and many others.
It's a funny business, you have to love it!"
