Bio

Chani Hood - aka Seasta Chani- comes from a large family of musicians immersed in the Perth hip hop scene and various other genres. Originally pursuing her passion in acting, Chani majored in performance at Curtin University. She began performing as a hip hop vocalist in 2004 along side her twin brother DJ BearHands in a duo known as Terijium. They continued to perform their unique and distinctive creations until 2009, taking intermittent breaks due to Chani’s other passion - travel. During this period she also worked Perth producers Beat Specific and MC group - The Horticulturalists.

After returning to Perth from a year of travel in 2010, Chani began focusing on her solo career. Teaming up with Mama Tiger on the turntables and Cat Edmunds as vocal support, she re-emerged into the Perth hip hop scene in mid 2011. Since then, Seasta Chani and the afore mentioned felines have hit the live circuit with a series of energetic and sassy performances - with regular guest appearances from The apprentice and R.I.

She released a self-titled EP in April which includes track credits from well know hip hop artists such as Rob Shaker, Paulie P and Beat Specific. Focused on both social commentary and emotional turmoil, this release very clearly expresses her female West Australian perspective. Using a mix of sounds and flavours, Seatsa Chani’s tracks combine hard hitting lyricism with melodic harmonies.

Seasta Chani has recently performed on stages with the likes of Bias B (Mel), Bigfoot (Mel), Reason MC (Mel), Mass MC (Syd), The Master (Mel), Porsah Laine, DJ Endeva, Junkadelic, The Brow Horn Orchestra, Ensemble Formidable, Ciecmate & Tornts (Mel), Grace Barbe, Odette Mercy, Paulie P, Slackjaw, The Amani Consort, Speekeasy, Delirious, Bitter Belief, Hyclass & Bonita, Mei Swan and many more.
