Bio

Ever get the feeling that certain things happen for a reason? Synchronicity has been a pivotal force in the evolution of SecondDan. The Police record of the same name was the first album ever purchased by lead singer and songwriter Dan Rosen. It was an album that shaped his formative years, passion for music and penchant for intelligent songwriting. It was also a belief in following your passion and your muse that led Dan to New York City … and ultimately to his bandmates.

After gaining critical success in Australia with SecondDan‘s debut EP, Dan decided to move to New York with the rest of the band in tow. Despite best intentions, his bandmates decided to stay downunder. On the day he heard his band would not be joining him, Dan happened to be browsing guitars at Matt Umanov’s - Greenwich Village’s most famous guitar shop. He relayed the bad news to his shop assistant who was showing off a black 1967 Telecaster. On hearing the news, the shop assistant told Dan that he was bass player and his coleague who had just arrived from Virginia played drums. He asked Dan to leave a copy of the EP, and if he liked the songs a jam could be set up. The shop assistant Daniel Reisbeck and his mate Sonny Ratcliffe loved what they heard, and immediately joined the band. Adding a New Yorker Adam Lerner to the mix was the final piece of the puzzle. That was a year ago ... and the rest is history in the making. Synchronicity

So, now SecondDan are ready to launch the next phase of their musical journey. The band has spent the past year honing their sounds and their tunes and building a passionate fanbase around New York. The band has played headline shows at Mercury Lounge, Arlene’s Grocery and Crash Mansion, supports at Irving Plaza, and shows in Boston and LA.

SecondDan create music for your head and your heart – combining the pop sensibilities of Foo Fighters and Oasis with the passion and world-view of U2 and countrymen Midnight Oil. It is on the stage where SecondDan shows it true spirit - delivering a blistering live set taking their music and message straight to heart of everyone within an earshot

Before heading over to the States, SecondDan were selected as the winners of the prestigious Unearthed competition by Australian national rock radio station Triple J – following famous alumni Silverchair. SecondDan's first two singles were placed on high national rotation, with their debut EP ranking in the top independent releases of 2004.The band toured the country on festival bills with the likes of White Stripes, Black Rebel MotorCycle Club, and The Vines.

SecondDan have spent the past few months in studios in New York, Los Angeles and Melbourne working on their highly anticipated debut album – set for release September 2006.
