Bio

Secret Gossip combines elements of jazz, funk, r&b, gospel, and rock music to satisfy your hankerin for a hunk of southern fried funk. Their unique style grew out of the home of country music, built on the shadows of the Motown night train that once walked 2nd avenue. Needless to say, they are an easy target for "one of these things is not like the other" in a town of honky tonk and The Grand Old Opry.

The members that make up this melting pot of a good time are: Jeff Collett - Nashville, TN. – (bass), Chris Genovese - Richmond, VA – (saxophones), Chris McElroy - Nashville, TN. – (guitar), Chet Hayes - Crossville, TN. – (drums), Clint Parris - Crossville, TN. – (keys / lead vocals), Courtenay Shipley - Pittsburgh, PA – (trumpet), and Oscar Utterstrom – Uppsala, Sweden – (trombone).

Aside from their monthly showcase at 2nd Avenue's Windows On The Cumberland in Nashville, the band has graced the stage at reputable Music City venues such as The Exit/In, 3rd & Lindsley, 12th & Porter, BluesBoro Rhythm & Blues Co., and The End. Secret Gossip is continuing to expand its epicenter all over the Southeastern region, and even up north to major cities including Chicago and New York. Secret Gossip has also played high profile shows such as the 2002 and 2003 Nashville Pride Festival, a 2003 CMJ Showcase at The Red Lion in NYC, and a 2004 "Support Our Troops" benefit in Panama City Beach, FL., and were featured at 2003 and 2004 NAMM, at showcases for Sabian Cymbals®, Ultrasound Amps®, and Eastman Guitars. The group released their debut EP, "Music For The PM" in the summer of 2003, and gained college radio play as well as regular rotation on "The Local Buzz" on Nashville's WBUZ 102.9. The Next Day even climbed to #26 on AIIRadio.net request charts.

With the release of their self-titled full-length debut in September 2005, Secret Gossip has begun plans to spread the word about their funky sound. With a pending distribution deal with Tower/Bayside and a tour in the works, it looks to be a landmark year for the band. Geographically, musically, and background wise, this band has a lot to bring to the table. In fact, maybe you should pull up a chair and listen as we feed you some quality soul food. Go ahead. Get up and dance before you finish your veggies. We won't tell yo mamma.
