"Review from first gig as a band"

Put your Ben Harper and John Butler cd's away and make room on the shelf for new Brisbane four piece roots band "The Seeds of Liberty".

On Monday night the 26th of May at The Cavern, Mermaid Beach, four piece Brisbane band "Seeds of Liberty" put on an energetic display of musical poetry.

In their very first live show at the Gold Coasts newest and happening music venue, The Seeds of Liberty held nothing back as they put on a tasty 45 minute set for the eager music community of the Gold Coast.

The venue seemed perfect for their style of mellow roots rock, and while minimal amounts of room were available for the four piece, they delivered a show that was well worth cramping up for. In a set that seemed "not long enough", SOL warmed the hearts of crowd patrons and kept the earthy tracks rolling as people danced and listened on.

Front man Matt McLean's presentation was outstanding, quite often leaving audience members with hairs standing on end after intoxicating displays of emotion throughout his performance. Around midway through the show, McLean greeted listeners with a persuasive talk about love, life, humanity and his spiritual leanings, humbling the hearts of audience members and laying a warm foundation between band and audience.

The Seeds of Liberty started with a few slow acoustic tunes earlier in the set before turning things up a little louder and rockier during the middle of the show. Then upon an encore demand, SOL finished with a high energy song of appetizing guitar solos and lively bass rhythms to lead the crowd to a standing response.

When promoting a live music event, finding a band that will fill the room and provide the house with good soul hearted entertainment is never easy. Finding a band that will consume you from the time they come on is even harder, but to leave a crowd standing in uplifted applaud as they scream for more, is a big sign for any band that they are bound for bigger things.

On Monday night The Seeds of Liberty were able to perform all of these attributes, engaging the crowd from the very beginning of the show, and playing on to a well deserved response. A wonderful night had by all guests. Seeds of Liberty, definitely a band that you will want to see again.
