Discography

As a rapper, Selementally understands the need to be a good role model for young Tanzanians who often lack outlets for their frustrations and anger. He has taken these songs to create a platform for Music that Matters to schools in the Mbeya Region to encourage young people to make good life choices. Moreover, he has participated as an ambassador for various sports events using these songs as a way to reach youth and begin discussions of the social issues. He soon will be releasing an album that encompasses these 6 songs as well as other songs that reflect a social-minded theme.

Bio

In 2018, he released his second album titled Stories of Dar. This album is a continuation of his life story, leaving Mbeya City to study in Dar es Salaam. Selementally wrote this album while completing his Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Nataka Kuinunua Dar featuring Belle 9, is a ironic story expressing the desire to buy Dar es Salaam City to halt the large number of migrants leaving their village for a better life. His lyrics highlight that when trying to build this metropolitan city, other areas of Tanzania are being left underdeveloped. The migrants leaving their hometowns for a better life often face even more discrimination and poverty living on the outskirts of the city.

He is currently based back in Mbeya City working for a non-profit organization called The Olive Branch for Children. Under their Kubuni Centre, he has released 6 songs that reflect various social issues Tanzanian communities face including stigma surrounding HIV, Gender Discrimination and Violence and youth lacking opportunities and self-determination. Selementally is most proud of Anaunguruma, which was his first time writing about gender equality. He spent weeks running focus groups with women and girls to really understand the barriers they face on a daily basis. He is proud to be an ally for women in Tanzania.
