If it's Tuesday, there's another hidden local gem playing at Churchill's; this time it's Self Run Will. These four guys are masters of MySpace self-deprecation, littering their page with admissions that they're "white trash" and that they sound like "the same old shit." That would be all well and good if their music were an exercise in massive suckage, but it isn't.
In fact their roots-indie sound is a supremely tuneful concoction that combines the playfulness of the Foo Fighters with the nu-hard-rock slickness of Florida's own tragically underappreciated Socialburn. As for the "white trash" part, that's BS too. Prior to his relocation to Miami, singer Mike Barnhill held down the bass end of Oregon power trio Courtesy Clerks, which at one point surprised everyone by selling out the Whiskey in L.A. and getting press love from Rolling Stone. More recently Self Run Will's rabid following helped the group survive a round at last year's Bodog Music Battle of the Bands. The bandmates are currently at work on their first self-released album.

Self Run Will was next at bat and they made a huge impression. Playing to a packed house, they had the audience in the palm of their hands, many singing along to their songs. They have a great sound which lends much to the Gainesville punk rock scene and makes them a top contender

They've been written of in Rolling Stone Magazine* and sold out L.A.'s infamous Whisky Room, yet you've never heard of them. For this is the new project of former legends. They bring to the Miami music scene the songwriting eloquence of the Pixies with the grit and anger of Post-hardcore acts such as Fugazi and Small Brown Bike. Aggressive choruses with dynamic builds and sparkling breakdowns. For fans of the likes of Modest Mouse, to Thrice, to The Foo Fighters, this is a band for all to enjoy. Singer Mike Barnhill and Drummer Matt Mullally both recently made Miami their home after near death experiences and unsatisfying bands forced them from their West Coast playgrounds. Both veteran rockers, they joined forces with the talents of Kevin Nielson on bass and Patrick Barnhill on guitar. Relative new comers to the Miami music scene, Self Run Will bring world experience, pure songwriting, and charismatic fervor to the stage.
