Semper–Fi are four lads who first got together as teenagers. Originally going by the name of Redfly, the band was renamed Semper-Fi in 2009. Coming from the Latin Semper-Fidelis, meaning ‘always faithful’ and the motto of the US Marine Corp, this was the name adopted by the band. The band was formed by school friends Luke Bremner (lead guitarist) and Jimmy Knight (lead singer and rhythm guitarist), who first started playing together when they were just 17 in Luke’s parents half built extension, way back in 2005. “The acoustics weren’t great but we felt we had potential”, commented Luke. They soon found they had a lot in common and started to write their own brand of rock music. After going through a series of iterations with other musicians the two lads asked Scott Polfrey (drums) and Lewis Coates (bass) to join the band. As their friendship developed they became inseparable and spend the majority of their time practicing and writing. They started to play in local pubs and clubs, gaining a following on the local scene and gradually in places further from home. With lots of fresh ideas they quickly added to their collection of songs and set about recording their first album, Elapsed Reason. This vibrant and varied album was received well, gaining encouraging feedback from a wide-ranging audience. They all have different music tastes however, the band draw their influences from the music styles of the 1980s and 90s and regard their music as Alternative Rock, similar in style to that of the Killers, Feeder and Foo Fighters.
