Sena Dagadu grew up in Accra with two siblings and a heavy dose of music. One could say that she has been onstage most of her life. As an MC and singer, she began her musical journey in 2001 in Budapest, Hungary. A chance meeting with well-known Hungarian underground hip-hop and dancehall DJs and MCs bloomed into a tight friendship and working relationship that was based around freestyle hip hop. The crew then called Gimmeshot Crew, which at the time was running a weekly dancehall, hip-hop night in a local Budapest club. Sena immediately felt at home with them and this relationship gave birth to Sena's and Gimmeshot record label's first release, Sena First One in 2003.
The years following the album release saw Sena working with many musicians from many different genres, including the Austrian Dzihan and Kamien of Couch Records, DJ Vadim of BBE Records, recorded several tunes with French label Irie Ites in cooperation with such names as Sizzla Kalonji, Trinity, Ras MC Bean. She also worked with Beenie Man, DJ Spider and the Colourblind Allstars of France, DJ Cadik, Dizko Stu, EasyLifeNatural, Sabrine El-Hossamy (darbuka player from Turkey), Slap In The Bass, abstract hip hop band Skeg, Balkan funk jazz band Kamu, Refractory, and others.
In 2013 she finished her 2nd solo album which is set to release for the Autumn of 2013 by French Label SoulBeats.
