Seneca Hawk blends foot-stomping Americana with intricate pop melodies culminating in a vicious live experience.

Biography

Seneca Hawk all met as students at Cornell University in Ithaca, NY. The band quickly became a local favorite for Ivy-leaguers and townies alike. After all three finished their undergrad education (well, almost all three), the band moved out to Los Angeles.

Since moving to Los Angeles, Seneca Hawk has played LA's finest venues, including the Troubadour, Spaceland, and the Viper Room. The band has frequently been featured on LA's 88.9 KXLU. Also, the band undertook its first national tour including stops in Austin (Emo's), New York (The Cutting Room), Portland (Dante's), and Salt Lake City (Kilby Court).

After completing the tour, Seneca Hawk began recording "Sun Year Long" with producer Adam Lasus (Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Yo La Tengo, Army Navy). After nine months of recording, the band has completed "Sun Year Long" and is scheduled to release the record in early 2010. The album's first single, "Steal Your Heart Away" will be released on November 3rd, 2009.

"Steal Your Heart Away" will be featured in the Apple Store's #1 iPhone game, Tap Tap Revenge 3.0

Lyrics

Steal Your Heart Away

Written By: Jonah Rivera

I've seen different girls, but not one's a dancer like you.
I think that we ought to move a little faster.
When you're asleep, I ought to take a picture -
your eyes, your lips -
but if I could steal your heart away.

I know that you want just a little more time girl
But I'm going to leave you
leave you just a little reminder.
Who would have thought I'd ever get close to your soft, brown skin.
But if I could steal your heart away.

I think, we know
first, last goodnight.
Don't have to try again just to prove your right.

If I could steal your heart away.

Finding a Way Home

Written By: Jonah Rivera

Don't think that much of me
or see me coming around these parts.
I can tell that we don't feel like settling down
but I'm finding a way home.

As soon as I'm something the world can remember
I'll call you up.
I'll make you the queen of the world I have gathered.
I'll find my way home.

Finding a way home.

I can not foresee
but you said we should leave things the way that they are.

Dozen Hearts

Written By: Jonah Rivera

You say you broke a dozen hearts.
I think you wouldn't know where to start.
You lost this little good thing we had.
Darlin, you're too young to want the good from bad.

Maybe you've been moving on.
Maybe I took a little long.
Maybe you broke a dozen hearts.
I think you wouldn't know where to start.
You're still in the same place

Now I see you again, I don't care half as much.
I've got nothing to say, to think when I feel your touch.
That's all.

Maybe you broke a dozen hearts.
I think you wouldn't know where to start.

Light from Light

Written By: Jonah Rivera

But you want the light of the world to come
shine through holes in the veil the night has worn.
Matador, the moon and her silver horn
shine through holes
impaled in the sky on a sword.

A moon you'd forget
even in full sun
falls asleep
waking up when I'm gone.
A moon you'd forget
even in full sun.
Not opening old wounds
circulating blood.

You watched
the light from a melting core kept you warm enough.
Burning hearts
black when the morning comes
smolder the air in your lungs.

A moon you'd forget, even in full sun
falls asleep, waking up when I'm gone.
A moon you'd forget, even in full sun.
Not opening old wounds
circulating blood.

A moon you'd forget, even in full sun
falls asleep, waking up when I'm gone.
You'd forget
Full sun.
Not opening old wounds

Restless Sea

Written By: Jonah Rivera

No easy choices to make across the seafloor.
No singing voices there to lull you to sleep.
And city noises make it hard to hear someone else's heart.
No swift horses to carry you home.

And just how can you hear this?
But if I wrote these letters I can hope
that you hear this.
Smoke from a distant fire means you're on your own.

Significant choices, they don't come easy.
If we don't drift apart we'll be pushed with the tide. And you know
Significant choices, they don't come easy
and miles off, living a coast away, you can start again.

And just how can you hear this?
But if I wrote these letters I can hope that you hear this.
Smoke from a distant fire means you're on your own, with a new start.
I've been waiting for the right song.

And just how can you hear this?
But if I wrote these letters I can hope that you hear this.
Smoke from a distant fire means you're on your own, with a new start.
I wrote these letters, I can hope.

to the eveningstar

Written By: Jonah Rivera

If my voice could be just like someone's I'd sing just for you.
It's so hard for me to sing in your key.
I'll just keep it tucked away.
You fall away.

If I could be as rich as anyone there'd be just me and you.
It'd be finally serene if I could be perfect for one day.
You fall away.
