Sensible Shoes is the collaboration of Oklahoma-based singer-songwriter Braden Russell and whoever he can coerce into playing music with him at the moment.
When he was three, Braden started playing violin. Somewhere along the way, he picked up a guitar and wrote some songs. He wrote and performed Celtic-infuenced indie folk music with his family band, Russellclan, for over a decade, before moving to Oklahoma and pursuing a solo career.
Influenced by acts such as Counting Crows, The Shins, Carbon Leaf, Rich Mullins, and Matthew Perryman Jones, Braden writes thoughtful indie rock that combines crunchy electric guitars, tight acoustic strumming, and quiet, introspective lyrics about relationships, mental health, fear, and faith.
Since April of 2018, the project has expanded to include Landon Joseph on additional guitars and vocals, Sam Morrison on bass and keys, and Austin Pollard on drums.
