Bio
Serge Bulat is a Moldavian born electronic music producer and singer-songwriter, whose style incorporates elements of electronica, downtempo, neo-classical, trip-hop, ambient and experimental music.
Bulat early expressed his interest and passion for music. He started playing the piano at the age of 7, and was the lead singer of band “The Bell”. Influenced by the classical, folk and electronic music scene of 90s, the artist was looking for a new platform for experimentation with genres and sound. After completing his studies in the music school, majoring in piano, Bulat moved to the capital Chisinau to further his career in music and radio.
At the age of 21, Bulat began working at one of the top radio stations in Europe – Europa Plus, and later that year joined the family of emerging Radio 21. While working on the radio, he created and hosted numerous shows, 2 of which (Nisha and Ome DeLuxe) aired for 2 years, immediately gaining attention and building a strong fan base. Aside from working on the radio, Bulat would DJ in the local clubs and produce various music related events. He released 2 music compilation albums and series of mix tapes titled “Nisha” with support from the radio station.
In 2007 Bulat served as a creative director of Radio 21. With his direction and vision, Radio 21 won the “VIP” award for the best radio station.
In late 2009, Bulat relocated to New York City to advance his music career. He experimented with remixing and sound design, which later evolved into an avant-garde musical titled “No Exit”.The year of 2013 was the birth of Bulat’s solo career. Producing songs for two different visions, one completely instrumental and the other - vocal. The result being his release of the first two songs: “Shofar” and “Red Shift Motel”, which showcased his skill of instrumental creation. He joined forces with the renowned visual artist Abraham Sprinkle (Next Management) to collaborate on the visual art work for the songs. Each song was conceptualized and developed as a separate project.
In July 2014 Bulat unveiled his track “Looking Glass” which included piano, beats, melodica, and poetry, in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Sakura Toyama.
Serge Bulat is currently working on his new single and video with the innovative artist Michael Rfdshir.
