Bio
Sergio Carlos Rosa born in Governador Valadares, Minas Gerais, Brasil in July 24th, 1972. Mr.Rosa began his musical training at 13 years old. With only one month of Bass lessons, Sergio was already playing with big names on the Music in Brasil. When Sergio turned 18, he told his dad that he wanted to pursue music seriously.
After touring with several Brazilian artists in Brazil, Sergio moved to Boston and he received a Scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music and Graduate in 2004 with summa cum laude (Com Honra)majoring in Professional Music.
Because of his talent and experience in Brazil as a performer, arranger, it didn't take Sergio very long for the music community in Boston to embrace him.
At Berklee he studied with John Lockwood, Joe Lovano, Matt Garrison, Greg Hopkins, Terri Lyne Carrington, Alain Mallet, Dave Liebman, Billy Drewes, Oscar Stagnaro and Jamey Haddad, Fernando Brandao, Fernando Huergo, David Sontoro, Ed Tomasi, Tony Lada, Jerry Bergonzy
Sergio has performed all over South and North America Ryles Jazz Club.
His versatility makes him a high in demand session musician, composer and arranger in the New England area. He is currently performing with multicultural fusion groups and his Quintet.
Sergio lives in Boston, MA with his wife Valdete Fernandes Rosa and his two daughters, Thais Rosa and Tainah Rosa. His goal is to continue to grow as a professional. Sergio is planning to return to school to do his Master Degree from the Boston Conservatory.
