Bio
Sermons have built a pantheon around their Hammond organ, allowing it to drive their work as organs had in psyched out 60's. Largely ignoring the guitar, the spirited violence of their rock & roll, and a glib epistemology, deliver the fire and brimstone their name vaunts. Songs are also storylines with haughty caricatures of ancient gods in contest, a parley for literary relevance (instead of moral agency). Their tempest thunders, lightening strikes, and clouds part quickly. Their calm is an uneasy one, quickly broken, almost epilepticly. Sermons' high stepped march & swagger parade with authority, and enthusiasticly counterfeit the archaic din of the post punk era. The vocals croon, orotund and gloomy, the compositions an exciting mint from self taught musicians. Sermons are the disembodied ghost of Darling's Cabinet Of Sundry Horror refocused, re-imagined & oddly somehow darker. Having shared the stage with diverse acts such as Psychic TV and The Number Twelve Looks Like You, the band are poised to hold seances wherever possible.
