Bio

I write and sing fun words of rhythm and rhyme that are fun to use in succession of one another. A marriage of music and lyric.

I grew up in the backwoods of Maine with an out-of-tune upright piano and a few exotic shakers and strings retrieved from far-away lands... and nothing but time. Time in the quiet to listen to the soundscape of the back-country hills and plenty of time for vinyl and radio, guitars and dreams.

In high school I gravitated toward the arts and focused into music, be it rock, punk, folk, jazz, or blues. I was influenced by the post-modern movement, by groups like Robyn Hitchcock and the Egyptians, The Sundays, The Primitives. I also had a real love of Jethro Tull for some time. Later, as po-mo became grunge, I transitioned with The Pixies, Red House Painters, Smashing Pumpkins, Radiohead, Nick Drake, Liz Phair, Mary Timony, Jeff Buckley, and Leonard Cohen.

My goal has always been to relate the story of a moment in time, in words that are compelling to hear and to feel zipping along the signal path from thought to sound.

I have written a litany of music that has never been published. Studies and sketches. After over 60 albums, this is my 'finally first' and an old dream realized.

"Dream:33" is an album about the duality of fantasies and realities. It's folk-rock and blues with introspection and outward motion about letting go of false self and a tribute to love of pop music from the outside looking in. It's a variety of sounds to represent a range of emotions.
