SETH SENTRY – STRANGE NEW PAST – JUNE 5TH
2015

 #2 ARIA chart debut

Triple
J Feature Album

His triumph is his commitment to making progress while
others around him stagnate. That’s artistry. That’s humility. That’s what an
intelligent rapper should be striving for.”
  - TheMusic

“’Strange
New Past’ is an honest reflection – both with its nostalgic narratives and
introspective analysis of its creator.”
Rolling Stone Australia

It's safe to call Seth Sentry's 2012 debut album a phenom.
Turning out hit single after hit single, This Was Tomorrow took Seth to
the forefront of Australian hip hop, in the process earning him a gold record,
an ARIA nomination, literally millions of YouTube views, and accolades like
Channel [V] Artist Of The Year. My Scene, Float Away and Dear
Science
established Seth's patented blend of nostalgia and humour, and were
met with massive radio play. It was a life-changing record for its creator, and
a lovely twist on a tale that starts out with a poor kid from a broken home.

But Seth's story was never going to be one where the nice
guy finishes last. He's too determined and too hard-working to have let that to
happen. Plus, as an artist who has little fear in presenting an honest version
of himself, Seth's music allows him the invaluable rewards of self-expression
and freedom.

One of the best ways any artist can follow up a hugely
successful debut is to reveal more of themselves on the second album; to
communicate directly with all of their new fans by daring to bare more of their
soul. For a naturally outspoken artist like Seth, deeper reflection often means
taking a step back, getting introspective and being brutally honest... and this
honesty is the defining characteristic of Seth's incredible sophomore album, Strange
New Past

Each song on Strange New Past gives its title a
different slice of context; from the historical re-write of the moon landing on
1969, to the examination of his own past throughout the album. From the
sunny remembrance of childhood of Run, to the deeper, more
soul-searching Dumb and

Sorry, some of what Seth unearths from the past is
cut from the fabric of the 'good old days' while other artefacts bear more
painful memories. Yet, in true Seth Sentry style, even the darkest songs on Strange
New Past
come speckled with moments that make you smile. Little wisecracks
from Seth's inner smartarse child that never grew up.

Executive produced by Styalz Fuego (with extra production by
Nic Martin), Strange New Past catches Seth exploring some new musical
territory, but mostly sticking to what he does best. Affected only by being a
little older and perhaps wiser... monster tunes like the beat-driven Hell
Boy
, revealing opener How Are You, and epic two-part Pripyat
(feat KUČKA) take Seth's game to the next level.

One of Australia's brightest talents, Seth Sentry has
squeezed a lifetime's career into just a few years, from storming his own
nation's airwaves, to bringing it home (and not swearing once) on Jimmy
Kimmel Live
. He is a consummate showman, a gifted songwriter and the rare
kind of rapper that doesn't take his own shit too seriously. Bringing together
all of this, Strange New Past is the Seth Sentry record that every fan
wants to hear next.
