"Concert at Wurlitzer Ballroom in Madrid"

"They look like coming up from the 80s, their new-wave, post punk and rock mix with as sophisticated as powerful female pop vocals works in a total temporal level and their live show burns out the stage...An amazing show done by Seven"

Seven - City Is Burning

“You didn't notice table's were turning"
Many current bands have been descibed as "the Blondie of the 2000's," but for my money Seven have come the closest. The similarity at times is quite striking (singer Annette Gil is a dead ringer, at least vocally), and City Is Burning sounds just like a long lost Blondie classic. Don't think that it's just a savvy impersonation, though. The band is absolutely amazing... completely adept with a catchy melody and a synthesizer. Along with similar bands like The Sounds and Surferosa, these Norwegians deserve massive success.

"Scotland legend Colin Hendry is hero of new punk rock song"

Scotland legend Colin Hendry is hero of new punk rock song
Oct 5 2009

FORMER Scotland skipper Colin Hendry is the unlikely hero of a punk rock song sweeping the internet.

The footballer has been immortalised in the number by Norwegian band Seven about a girl playing second fiddle to her man's football team.

The track reveals how the Blackburn Rovers fan idolises the man known as Braveheart, with the line: "All he wants to be is Colin Hendry - The man of his dreams".

The song, entitled Blackburn (Rovers In His Heart), is out on October 19 and is already an online hit with fans of the Lancashire club, where Hendry is now a legend.

Singer Anette Gil said: "The song's written from a girl's point of view and wonders why men can become so obsessed with the game they are willing to drop everything else."

"Seven’s dance-rock fits in with the best of the genre. 01.18.10."

Seven’s dance-rock fits in with the best of the genre
January 18, 2010
By Stephen Carradini
I’ve had a spate of number bands recently. I reviewed TiLT 360 the other day, I recently reviewed Black Heart Procession’s Six, and now I’ve got a double dose in reviewing The Fifth by Seven. I’m not really sure what causes people to name their band a number, but it seems to have no effect whatsoever on their music, as all of these bands are great at what they do.

Seven’s dark, danceable rock would have been lumped in with Killers, the Bravery and Interpol, had they erupted around the turn of the century. If Hot Fuss-era Killers had added a female singer and swung more toward the “Jenny Was a Friend of Mine” side of than the “All These Things That I’ve Done” side, they would have become Seven. The rattling high-hat, synths, upbeat tempos and epic melodies are all there.

Vocalist Annette Gil has a low voice for a girl, and it fits the sound perfectly. Her voice draws power from the low, gritty guitars that comprise most of the backdrop of this album. It draws contrast and tension from the high synths that often juxtapose with the guitars. That give and take is what forms the basis of almost all Seven songs. And, from top to bottom, that’s a great thing.

From the stomping anthem “Dance Dance Dance” to the mid-tempo “Blackburn” to the punked-out “Sickleave,” Seven blazes through thirteen songs without ever letting the energy drop. There are guitar-driven tracks like rocker “Peace and Lovin,” so-much-synth-it-might-be-the-eighties tracks like “No Ambition” and even unexplainable tracks like “Elements,” which starts off like a spaghetti western and ends up being an oddball pop song.

This album is a must-hear for people who love synth-driven rock with a dance bent and anthemic tendencies. There’s a lot of that going around these days, but Seven’s carved out a niche and written songs that stick, even in a genre full of excellent songwriters. I

Bio

Seven singer Annette Gil is finally ready with her first solo-album, entitled “Desert Disco!”.

Annette has been lead singer and composer in the Norwegian band Seven for over 10 years. Together they released 5 albums and toured around the world.

She has been working on her album for over two years and recorded almost 30 songs. But only 11 made it to Desert Disco! Beats and synthesizers meets twang guitars. She loads her guns with disco balls and take you to the deepest valleys and brightest mountain tops. Inspired by dramatic synthesizers from early eighties Italian horror movies and the dusty spaghetti western music by Ennio Morricone. Restlessness, desperation, love and hope has taken her to this musical journey.

Annette Gil solo album was made in House Of Distillery Rec. produced with help from her musical partner and drummer Ole Tom Torjussen.
Seven started in 1999. The music is inspired by the late seventies early eighties New wave, where punk meets pop. Seven has found the missing link between pop and rock.

Seven released their fifth album - darker and more dramatic than the previous four in Norway 2009. It will definitely blow your heads off.

After a lot of tours in Norway
Seven decided to get their music out of Norway.

Since 2007 Seven has played concerts in
Toronto (3). Berlin (2). Liverpool (2). New York (2) Also done gigs in Madrid and Bilbao.
