Sex & Missiles

Sex & Missiles has, in a very short time, become a band that is known for its ability to play a great, energetic show. Their ability to draw a good size crowd in their base city (DC and it’s surrounding suburbs), has quickly given Sex & Missiles a name for it self among the local club and bar booking agents.
Sex & Missiles very first gig ever was in late November of 2007 at the Velvet Lounge in Washington DC, for which they sold over 60 tickets. Since then Sex & Missiles has played well known venues such as Sonar in Baltimore MD (the Main stage), The Rock and Roll Hotel in Washington DC, and Jammin Java in Vienna VA. After only 8 months of being together, and with no professional representation, Sex & Missiles has almost, single handedly, sold out shows that were not even on weekend nights.
Sex & Missiles was a very close 4th place for the FOX 5 ROCKS, online voting competition. They were also the 3rd place band for the 2007/2008 Emergenza Battle of the Bands Regional final, which included DC, Baltimore, Philadelphia, and Boston.

Sex & Missiles began in the summer of 2007 when two friends, John Soares and Alex Lutz, grew tired of being in bands that had nothing to offer. John was a pop/rock influenced singer with an amazing range, and Alex was a heavy rock influenced drummer with machine gun like capabilities. They wanted to find dedicated musicians, and craft a new sound.
The answer came with guitarist Nathan Howe, who brought a fresh sound, the knowledge of a musician, and the rage of a great artist. Alex and Nathan immediately began to develop new, fresh music that started the band down the road that all three members were searching for.
Peter Grillot joined in the Fall of 2007 and created the rumble that was needed. His rock/ punk background and, ironically, easy going nature contributed greatly to the four finding their sound and their personal voice.
In the spring of 2008 Konstantin Grodsky joined the band. His ability to learn very quickly, and play both precise lead and solid rhythm, gave the band everything it needed to fill out its live sound.
Fueled by lives that have been cultivated through growing up in a public world, focused on everything sexual, and enticed by everything violent, Sex & Missiles now exists to formulate a new type of Rock, yet still maintaining the Pop edge.
