Sexsmith is the heart and soul of brother-and-sister team Gin and Andy Sexsmith. Gin has been writing lyrics and melodies since she was 7 and Andy taught himself to play the guitar and quickly started writing at 12. In January 2012 they decided it was time to jam together. Half an hour later their first song 'Lying' was born.
Their father is a metal head. Their mother listens to everything with a hook. They grew up on music. Their own music is inspired by some of their favourite artists and bands: Tegan and Sara, The Scorpions, Metric, Kings of Leon, Metallica, and Motley Crue.
Andy's writing style is riff-driven, Gin's lyrics have been described as sexually and emotionally charged. Her sound has hints of Sarah Mclachlan sweetness with a Joan Jett edge.
They have since added Cole Leafe on guitar, Daylon Martin on bass, and Rawa Brant on drums making them a five-piece powerhouse to watch.
