Shades of Air

Shades of Air (fka Mudshovel) formed in 2007 and soon was winning local Talent Contests in Watertown, South Dakota, one of which gave them a chance to go to Texas and record an EP in 2012. Their amazing vocal harmonizing and edgy sounds, whether electric or acoustic, has brought the attention of many in the South Dakota area.

Luke Abbott-Wilson was born in Lincoln, Nebraska. He moved to Watertown in 2001. Began playing drums in 2003 but didn't get serious until 2004. Luke met Jared and Jordan in 2003 in elementary school. In 2007 Jordan, asked Luke to play drums for him and Jared for a talent show. After a month of rehearsal, they won the talent show and decided to continue as an original band and also play covers around the local venues. Since then, Luke has learned how to play and write guitar. His influences for drumming range from Buddy Rich, Neal Peart, Jon Bohnam, Keith Moon, to Abe Cunningham and Thomas Pridgen; Deftones, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, Silverchair, are only some of the guitar influences.

Jordan Amdahl was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota but has lived in Watertown, SD most of his life. Jordan and his brother, Jared, started singing when they were about 2 years old. Jordan and Jared started playing for nursing homes and did local cancer walks. They started singing Big And Rich songs and learning how to harmonize their vocals. Both played a variety show at their school decided that they should keep harmonizing with each other. Jared and Jordan moved to Watertown, SD and started going to school where Jordan was elected for class president in his home classroom. Jordan suggested that the school should do a talent show, which they approved. Having known Luke started playing drums, Jordan asked if Luke could join in him and his brother's band for the talent show. They won the talent show and have kept playing ever since. Some of Jordan's biggest influences are Alice In Chains, Deftones, Silverchair, and Stone Temple Pilots.

Jared Amdahl was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He started singing at a young age. He has been playing guitar since 2005. Both Jared and his brother, Jordan, started to sing in many local talent shows. His brother Jordan asked childhood friend Luke to be our drummer in 2007, have been writing originals and playing various covers since. Some of Jared's influences are Alice in Chains, Silverchair, Stone Temple Pilots, and David Grissom.
