Playing together since early 2005, Shadowkast have played shows from small-town bars to large venues; performing on the same stage as Pantera, The Offspring, and Nickelback; raising money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis; and supporting other local bands in day-and-night long festivals, among many others.

Bio

Shadowkast is a band from Ponca City, OK that currently resides in Fort Lauderdale, FL. With a creative blend of strong vocals, dynamic percussion, and tasteful bass/guitar work, they’ve come together to form an original mixture of rock and alternative. As best friends and band mates, they strive to produce a unique sound for all to enjoy.

Shadowkast consists of Shane Gray, vocals and guitar; Anthony Kent, lead guitar and vocals; Chad Holder, bass; and Nick Burns, drums. Playing together since early 2005, Shadowkast has become known all over Oklahoma and South Florida. They possess a robust history of over 300 performances from small-town bars to large venues; performing on the same stage as Pantera, The Offspring, and Nickelback; raising money and awareness for Cystic Fibrosis and Cancer Research; and supporting other local bands in day-and-night long festivals, among many others. The band re-located to South Florida during the summer of 2009, seeking a wider outlet for their diverse musical offerings. This new location has proved a smart decision, with opportunities abound. Night-club gigs, celebrity birthday parties, even low-key acoustic sets are all in a week’s work for Shadowkast now. With their new fame and professional sensibilities a full-length studio album is in progress.

Vocals and additional guitar work are supplied by Shane Gray, a native of Houston, TX. Shane was musical at a very early age, honing his vocal talent in school and church choirs. Shane has been playing guitar since he was 10 years old. Shane’s main musical influences have been Layne Stayley, Jerry Cantrell, Zakk Wylde, and Matt Shadows.

Lead guitar is carried out by Anthony Kent, originally from Colorado Springs, CO. Anthony had a very musical upbringing, as his father, Robert Thornton Kent, was already an accomplished folk musician. Picking up guitar at 13, Anthony quickly learned his favorite artists’ works and was never satisfied until he could play note-for-note with the record. Anthony lists his greatest musical influences as Randy Rhoads, Dickey Betts, Adam Dutkiewicz, and his father.

Bass guitar is played by Chad Holder, from the band’s hometown of Ponca City, OK. Chad joined orchestra in the fifth grade, playing double-bass and always occupying first chair. Chad was an all-state orchestra student in high school, which led to opportunities with the Oklahoma State University and Tulsa Symphony Orchestras. Chad began playing electric bass when he was 12. Chad’s main influences are Jason Newstead, Rex Brown, and the works of Dvorjak and Mendelssohn.

On drums is Nick Burns from Kansas City, KS. A multi-talented musician, Nick has been playing guitar since he was 9 years old but made the switch to drums when he was 15. Nick brought a different style and sense of diversity to the band, drawing influences from a variety of artists such as Steve Gadd, Danny Carey, Josh Freese, and many other classic-rock and country acts.
