Bio
Formed in 2004 by Craig Hammond in the New York new romantic scene and the hip cross dressing beautiful people parties.
Craig has previously fronted bands like SIR VERE (which regularly attracted crowds of 1,000 people) and post industrial rock outfit GAUGE, and his chosen right hand man in this project is Spatts, the founding member of Hip Hop act Criminal Minds, and a regular on the dance charts as part of Environmental Science, a breakbeat act who were signed to Skint records.
Early influences of The Shadow Puppets include Bowie, Idol, Iggy, Adam Ant, Numan & Marc Almond, although they have now developed their own unique blend of all of the above.
The Shadow Puppets may be the rebirth in a generation of great hybrid dance acts. Everybody from STEREO MC`s to THE PRODIGY and all that came before have experimented with the dance vs rock combo, with extreme highs & lowsâ¦
The Shadow Puppets are the conclusion. The result. Able to rock the
party as an electrifying dj combo, DA PUPPETEERS or electrify the stage as THE SHADOW PUPPETS they can throw down anywhere. They have most recently performed at Tesco Disco, Madame Jo Jos, and djed at La Fleche Dâor.
The dynamic energy in their music and live performances has lead to a real buzz in the music industry. The idea was to seamlessly bring all things rock into the dance arena, putting colour and style back into the music scene, and they have been known to attract very large crowds of dance-music fans to all their gigs.
Craig Hammond and Spatts have done remix work for Prodigy, Shamen and Megadeth, among others. Craig has also worked with The Chemical Brothers, and Spatts has djed at Glastonbury, Reading & Leeds Festivals and more.
Forthcoming Album
Over the past 12 months the Shadow Puppets have been working with some of the most innovative & experienced beats and breaks producers in the UK to galvanise all of the above. They have now produced an exciting album, 'This is my life'. A reflection of all things twisted in life, and a true journey of life's ups and downs, with its tongue always firmly in cheek.
With a number of compositions, including an excellent cover of the Adam Ant
classic âGoody 2 Shoesâ, the world awaits to cast judgement. What we see is an
explosive frontman that has a distinctive live performance that holds the
attention of the crowd, a distinct style of delivery & sonic quality in
sound.
A Shadow Puppets short film called Tempodiathmine 8:15 is also due for release. This features Craig Hammond's exciting acting debut as an assassin in the future, who faces conflict from his flashbacks to a distant past â set to the electrifying soundtrack of The Shadow Puppets.
