Shadow, Voice of North Miami

BandHip HopAvant-garde

Hip-Hop Music has many sub-genres and Shadow, The Voice of North Miami appears to have created a new one. If rappers like KRS-One, Kool-Moe-Dee and Run-DMC grew up in the South this is what they would probably sound like. This obviously has an unusual but refreshingly dance oriented feel to it.

Shadow's brand of music can be traced to his upbringing in the Little Haiti section of Miami, Florida USA, where Pop and R&B music shaped his world. "I remember the first music I bought back then was a CD by female rapper, The Brat". "Back then I listened to the same music everyone else listened to."

At the age of 13 He moved to what is known as the West-Side section of North Miami where he broadened his music taste to artists such as Devin The Dude, Scarface, 8-Ball, and MJG.

North Miami's West-Side continues to be plagued by Haitian Gang murders and crime to this day as can be attested to by any recent Miami Herald Newspaper.
