Shady Lane

Shady Lane is a four-piece, alternative rock band that performs original material as well as popular cover songs. We are looking to play new and larger venues, come under the guidance of professional management, and distribute our recordings through various medias.
Shady Lane has played at establishments throughout Connecticut, including the University of Connecticut (Storrs, CT), the Riverside Club (Danielson, CT), the Rain Desert (Danielson, CT), Tequila Cove (Storrs, CT), Starbucks (North Haven, CT), P. J. O’Connor’s (Jewett City, CT), the Webster Theatre (Hartford, CT), and also at many private functions. The majority of these venues have been loud, rock clubs, but a number of them have been in quieter, more intimate venues. Because of this, we feel comfortable playing in any situation.
Shady Lane’s live act consists of two electric guitars, an electric bass, and drums. Each instrumentalist also sings. We own a 1000-watt PA system with two speakers and two monitors, four microphones, and four microphone-stands. We also own amplifiers and instruments for all four members. If necessary, Shady Lane can provide a light show and opening acts as well (either D.J. or live music).
Our fan base consists of 18-25 year olds, the majority being 21 and older. They are college and high school students from all over Connecticut. Shady Lane fans love coming to shows. Most fans are female and enjoy dancing to the music. We communicate to our fans both electronically and over the telephone, employing three web sites for mass e-mails and electronic invites (www.shadylaneband.com, www.thefacebook.com, and www.myspace.com). Our fans are looking forward to hearing Shady Lane at new venues.
After having produced three tracks independently in our own studio, Shady Lane is currently preparing for our first professional release. The LP will be self-titled and will include eight original tracks. We are working alongside a very busy School of Audio Engineering at New York graduate, Steve Errato, to produce these high quality recordings. We have learned a lot from the process.
Shady Lane is different from other independent bands for many reasons. Above all others, our music focuses on the song; everything else is secondary. Because the band consists of four talented songwriters each work is genuinely unique. The songwriting process tends to follow a general pattern. A member will write something independently and then later share it with the rest of the band. The group learns the harmony and melody and together works out an arrangement that everyone agrees is best for the song. In a way, everything is a work in progress, developing each time it is performed. Furthermore, each band member sings, shifting the spotlight and adding vocal harmony to each number. This is what sets us apart from other bands — we focus on the most traditional aspect of music, the song.
