Shae Allen Biography

As a child, Shae Allen used to always ask God why her life had to be so  crazy.  Why'd her mom have to be the one on drugs or why didn't her dad care enough about her, or even why did her grandmother (who raised her) have to be in a wheelchair?  As a woman, she now knows...

She's proud to be a country girl from the rough edges of Quincy, Fl, a small town right outside of Tallahassee.  Growing up she saw drug addicts, drug dealers, and prostitutes on just about every corner in her neighborhood so it was hard to ever dream of making big as a singer, so she didn't.  "I just wanted to make it out of my 'hood, I mean, I love my 'hood, though it got me plenty of school suspensions and whoopings (she laughs), but I didn't plan to stay there after graduating AT ALL".  She always led songs in the choir growing up but says she needed to put her energy on more attainable goals as a child because so many odds were against her.  "People in my own family wanted to see me fail and thought I would because they knew my mom was in and out the streets.  I needed to prove everyone wrong and college was my only concrete option for success so I did that and graduated.  Now, many epiphanies later, here I am as an up and coming recording artist.  Lot's of people are surprised, but you can't stop God's plan," she says.

Just a few years ago Shae stumbled across this writing songs and recording thing.  At first people didn't take her serious in the music business because she was more focused on college and paying bills.  She had plenty of bumpy roads in between but now, no one can stop her because she believes that one of the reasons God allowed her to go through so much as a child and still make it with a positive frame of mind is so she can write about in a song with wisdom as a woman.  "I got kicked out of high school, was court ordered to take anger management therapy, my mom got shot in the head and left for dead in the woods…but survived.”  Shae proclaims that if she was able to graduate with a scholarship after being out of high school 2 whole months then later alternative school, and if her mom can survive being shot multiple times, that anyone can make if they have the drive and faith.  “If I can keep just one young mind from following my negative path but jump straight to the positive one that I began, I’m good!"

Shae Allen seems to be the voice for males & females from the many ghettoes of the nation, especially young girls.  When asked about her lyrics in the Quarter of a Century Remix (originally by Blade) she’ll tell you they are true. "When I wrote that, just like Blade, I felt like I've been through a lot in 25 years. I made plenty mistakes growing up doing things that a little girl my age shouldn't have even been thinking about.  I had to suffer the consequences, but I learned from my mistakes and made it out now I feel like it's my job to let the youth know they can do it too, without making those same mistakes."

Now Shae is ready for whatever this music path has for her.  She also acts, hosts events, has sang with many live bands around the Tampa Bay area, opened for several major artists in Florida and Georgia, and is now promoting her new mixtape “Power of the Pen”.  The mixtape can be downloaded for free on Datpiff.com.  She states, "This singing thing ain't all about me and having a voice, it's about God and saving a young life from being trapped in these streets, that's why I do it.  I thank God for all the blessings, appreciate all the support and to all the people that doubters: DaDonDiva will make you a believa!  #ShaeAllenMusic is here.
