Shaky Horse

Shaky Horse

BandFolkSinger/Songwriter

Shaky Horse brings the wildness of the mountains, the shifting of the seas and the dirt of the city and channels them through one voice and six guitar strings. Playing folk music which comes from the soul and opens doors to the colours of the imagination which were once thought lost..FEEL the music

Biography

Shaky Horse is not one single man. Shaky Horse is not mortal. Shaky Horse is the spirit of folk music. Shaky Horse is the mystical, the indefinite, the undefinable. Shaky Horse lives through those who gather to conjure the spirit, whether he be one man or his band of gypsies, circled, waiting, ready to tame the ghost of folk.

Lyrics

Samaritan Street

Written By: Shaky Horse (Declan Doherty)

She worked on Samaritan Street,
Where the sad and lonely go,
She worked six nights a week,
Kept heer money in a drawer,

I played the sad guitar,
In a sad and lonely bar,
I worked six nights a week,
Kept my money in a jar,

I had no friends,
And I had no place left to go,
I walked down Samaritan Street,
Where the sad and lonely go,

I walked down Samaritan Street,
Where the sad amd lonely go,
That's where I saw her first,
Like a solitary rose,

She took me to her regular,
Down by the riverside,
I had been her long ago,
Before the sun had died,

We shared the saddest night,
And in the morning she was gone,
I walked down Samaritan Street,
And I put my black hat on,

The lights glow dimmer now,
And I don't find her around,
I heard a story long ago,
That they found her body drowned,

I heard a story long ago,
And you may have heard it first,
But when the words were spoke,
Well I swear, my heart - it burst,

Now I've walked down Samaritan Street,
For days and weeks on end,
Looking for my one and only, solitary friend.

O'Hagan's Blues

Written By: Shaky Horse (Declan Doherty)

O'Hagan he was a scumbag,
He used to rob everybody in the town,
And he would take all their money,
And lay it on the dogs,
Or he'd spend it when he's knocking back the brown,

But O'Hagan he loved that guitar,
And man could the bastard play,
The people used to tell us that,
'He's twice as good as Elvis!',
And even Presley knew that he was The King.

But O'Hagan he was a scumbag,
He never had the need for a job,
And he never took a woman that was his own,
And he used to fight like a wild gypsy dog!

But O'Hagan he loved that guitar,
And man could the bastard play,
The people used to tell us that,
'He's twice as good as Elvis!',
And even Presley knew that he was The King.

But O'Hagan he was a scumbag,
He used to sing down in Lavery's Back Bar,
And I met him there one night,
And he bought 15 pints,
But then I passed out,
And he stole my ol' guitar!

But O'Hagan he loved that guitar,
And man could that bastard sing,
And the people used to tell us that,
'He's twice as good as Rlvis!',
And even Presley knew that he was The King.

Now O'Hagan he was a scumbag,
He picked a fight with 'The Sherriff' John Brunnell,
But he picked on the wrong fella',
Brunell sent him up to heaven,
But St. Peter kicked him right back down to hell,

Now O'Hagan he loved that guitar,
And man could that bastard sing,
Now the devil he will tell us that,
'He's twice as good as Elvis!,
But you'll have to sell your soul to hear him sing!'

A Hard Night (In the Kitchen)

Written By: Shaky Horse (Declan Doherty)

I will love you 'till the day I die,
Come on into my kitchen, Come on ahead and try,
It's cold outside, the rain is pouring over them hills,
Anyway you've got nothing to lose, nothing except your will,

It's a hard night loving you in the kitchen,
It's a hard morning when you leave in the rain,
And it's a hard day when I say,
That between you and me,
You're bewitching me With your eyes,

I thought I saw you yesterday on my road,
Underneath the hanging tree, down by the shady grove,
Well you're a mystery, you're a ghost, you're a dream,
There ain't nothin' that I can do to bring you back it seems,

And it's a hard night without you in the kitchen,
And it's a hard morning waking up in the rain,
And it's a hard day when I say,
That between you and me,
You're bewitching me with your eyes.
