Bio
Imagine if Boards of Canada, Shpongle, Enigma, and Thelonious Monk got lost in the jungles of the Amazon, and the only way out was to invent quantum teleportation. That is the sound of Shamantis, a psychedelic electronic music project of Nick Pittsinger. Growing up, Nick was always captivated by music, which naturally led him to picking up a guitar at 11 and studying music theory intensely. By the age of 20, Nick had been studying music theory for six years, jazz theory for three, piano for four, and had been producing for one year. Nick wrote his first album, Music for Dolphins, on a broken MIDI controller with eight working keys, forcing him to be extremely inventive and creative with how to go about developing his musical ideas. This goes to show Nick’s dedication and passion with music.
Shamantis is the sonic representation of the spirit, the sychedelic experience, the human experience, and nature in an electronic music medium. He combine elements from tribal, ambient, psychedelic, goa, trip hop, dub, trance, jazz, and downtempo music to form a unique sound that is easily recognizable. Most of Shamantis’ music features improvised jazz piano solos and emphasis on ethnic instrumentation.
