"Hitchhiking Buddha Record review"

Shane Chisholm
Hitchhiking Buddha (Independent)

On his debut, Claresholm, Alta.-based session player and
touring sideman Shane Chisholm steps into the spotlight
mixing old-school country and western with a touch of
rockabilly buoyed by traditional instrumentation and his
own solid upright bass.

He possesses a rich and captivating vocal reminiscent of
Merle Haggard, but smoother and twang-free. Everyone
from truckers and murderers to overweight roosters and
a hitchhiking Buddha inhabit Chisholm's songs.
He also knows how to make someone else's song his
own. Hank Sr.'s Kawliga sounds like the Stray Cats on
moonshine. Poison's Every Rose Has It's Thorn becomes
a passionate duet (with Lynae Dufresne) and his take
on Big Sugar's All Hell For a Basement transcends the
original. In fact, Chisholm elevates it to acoustic Americana
glory as the guitar, violin and mandolin cheer on a
commanding and expressive vocal performance.
Watch out Corby, Shane Chisholm is hot on your trail. ''''

"Ole Scores Third CCMA Publisher Award"

The Canadian Country Music Awards named ole its Publisher of the Year for a third consecutive year. The accolade was announced during the CCMA’s annual Awards week celebration which took place this year in Vancouver, British Columbia. Toronto-based ole also has offices in Nashville and Los Angeles

During CCMA ole offered songwriters a chance to hit an instant single-song “home run” publishing deal. Writers, with song demos, were asked to start at first base and then move to second and third as various umpires judged their offerings. Along the way, most songs were Out! before making it all the way to home base. Shane Chisholm however, scored and was offered a deal. - Music Row

"North Of The Border"

Shane Chisholm is a multitalented artist who knows...
Shane Chisholm is a multitalented artist who knows how to deftly "spank the tank". The bass player, who was born in Ontario and is currently an Alberta resident, has a passion for crafting his own musical instruments. One of his most interesting pieces is an upright bass created from the gas tank of a Chevrolet Astro Minivan.

Shane performed for many years as a bass player and backup singer for Canadian artists Julian Austin, Aaron Pritchett, Gord Bamford and George Canyon. The singer/songwriter has 9 CCMA nominations to his name including nominations for Roots Artist and bass Player of the Year.

Shane's debut album, Hitchhiking Buddha, was picked up earlier this year for distribution by Canada's Fontana North, a subsiduary of Universal Music Group. Listen to his rich voice at www.shanechisholm.com - Country Weekly Magazine
