"WFJS 1260 AM"

Thank you so much for sharing your CD: Prophecies of Love. It continues to uplift the spirits of our listeners on WFJS 1260 AM. If your warmth, sincerity, and love of singing shines through on CD, I can only begin to imagine how you must pull in an audience LIVE!

I often introduce your songs in the following manner:

Touched with the flavor of early folksinger/songwriters such as Peter, Paul and Mary, Pete Seeger, and James Taylor, Shane Marie Devine has a gentle, natural sound that must be heard. Music is often the bridge to healing, love and peace; Prophecies of Love is music we need NOW! Obviously trained in voice and guitar, but not over-produced, Shane captivates and sings from the heart. Not many singers can pull off a-cappella exposure......Shane’s interpretation of 'How Can I keep from Singing' is my personal favorite....again, pure, beautiful, natural, and sincere. Looking forward to CD #2!! Keep up the great, inspirational work!

A sweet clear voice, a skilled songwriter, and a peace-loving activist; in a nutshell, Shane Marie Devine embodies all these categories and more.  Her music, as personified in her album Prophecies in Love, is like rain about to flood a lake: the emotion put into her work is so overwhelming that one can hardly keep his or her ecstasy inside until it overflows.  With a voice like Billie Holliday’s, coupled with a smidge of the Carpenters and a bit of John Denver’s guitar, Devine’s voice and her sound is simply touching.
Track 1: “Silver Wings” is a song written by Devine and her late husband Tom that simply encapsulates what it must be like to fly.  A tranquil guitar line and a lilting, dance-like, yet relaxed backdrop proves for an enjoyable experience while Devine’s voice while she sings: “spread my silver wings and fly.”
Track 4: Devine shows her mastery of the bel canto technique in her a capella solo voice arrangement of “How Can I Keep From Singing,” inspired (and dedicated to) the great folksinger Pete Seeger.  Her voice is a looming, stunning work of art, and her inflection of the words is poignant and almost heartbreaking.  One might be brought to tears by her voice alone.Track 9: “You’re a Part of Me,” a song written by Kim Carnes, is a heartbreaking ballad when Devine performs it.  Perhaps sung in dedication of her late husband, Devine’s voice is emotionally potent and striking.  The guitar playing is solid and the backup vocals are unobtrusive, allowing Devine to shine and letting us reflect on what it must be like to need someone.
