Biography

Shane Pitsch or should I say Dr. Shane Pitsch has a doctorate in trumpet performance and has a resume that could kill. Comfortable in many different musical styles, he has performed with a diverse range of artists including Willie Nelson, The Drifters, rock and roll Hall of Famer Sam Moore (of Sam and Dave), Henry Butler, The Walkmen, Spoon, What Made Milwaukee Famous, Johnny Bush, legendary jazz saxophonist Wayne Shorter, Grammy Award-winning jazz composer Maria Schneider and many others. He continues to perform as a sideman with various local Austin artists such as T-Bird and the Breaks, Akina Adderley and the Vintage Playboys, The Wheeler Brothers and Drew Smith's Lonely Choir.

Shane Pitsch and the Smokestack Revue is a hard-hitting, horn-driven soul/rock band with an Austin sensibility. Their music blends elements of soul, R&B, blues, rock, New Orleans funk and jazz, creating a one-of-a-kind sound that features tight arrangements, exciting solos from every member of the band, a horn section that refuses to not be heard, and funky bass and drum grooves. The centerpiece of the band's sound is Shane Pitsch's voice, which is reminiscent of, but unique to Gregg Allman of the Allman Brothers Band and David Clayton-Thomas of Blood, Sweat and Tears. While some of their songs are reflective in nature and have a mellower feel, others will make you want to get up and dance like nobody’s watching.
