"Turn Around" (And They Were Gone)

Written By: Shane & Amber Reed

1st Verse:

Mama sits alone tonight;
Reading her Bible by the firelight;
There’s a feeling that’s deep inside;
She’s happy but she wants to cry.

In raising her children, she did her best;
She closes the Bible, holds it to her breast;
She looks at the old photographs, above the fireplace;
And whispers as she looks at each face:

Chorus:

“They grew so fast, always thought it would last;
Turn around and they’re grown;
Like the fading flowers, we couldn’t hold back the hours;
All we did was turn around, and they were gone.”

2nd Verse:

Papa drives a big rig all week long;
As he drives his heart beats the tune of a lonely song;
He fights with an unseen foe;
There’s a part of him that just won’t let go.

In raising his children, he did his best;
He gets a funny feeling deep in his chest;
He opens his wallet up, gets lost in the days;
And whispers as he looks at each face:

Chorus:

“They grew so fast, always thought it would last;
Turn around and they’re grown;
Like the fading flowers, we couldn’t hold back the hours!
All we did was turn around, and they were gone.”

3rd Verse:

Headlights flash across the window pane;
She opens the door and runs to him through the falling rain;
He holds her close against the stormy sky;
Inside of them’s a flame that’ll never die!

In raising their children they did their best;
They get a funny feeling deep in their chest;
All of life’s memories, made with each day;
Memories etched of each and every face!

Final Chorus:

They grew so fast, always thought it would last;
Turn around and they’re grown;
Like the fading flowers, we couldn’t hold back the hours;
All we did was turn around, and they were . . . gone.

"This Way Now"

Written By: Shane & Amber Reed

1st Verse:

Do you remember, when we were just kids?
You’d walk with me to school;
Laughing at every funny thing I did;
Do you remember, too?

Now you’re standing there, hand on the door;
Saying you’re leaving me, don’t you want me anymore?

Chorus:

Here we are, face to face
Both of us feeling out of place;
Along the way, our love got lost somehow;
Won’t you help us find it? Please don’t leave me this way now.

2nd Verse:

Do you remember, our baby’s first cry?
We’d stay awake all night;
And I held you close when your daddy died;
Our love seemed so right.

Now you’re standing there, hand on the door;
Saying you’re leaving me, don’t you want me anymore?

Bridge:

By myself I can’t make it, without your love, there’s no tomorrow;
I can’t understand why you’d give up, and just let it go . . . .

Final Chorus:

. . . . here we are, face to face;
Both of us feeling out of place;
Along the way, our love got lost somehow;
Won’t you help us find it? Please, oh, please, don’t leave me this way . . . now.

"Cherish the Day" (I Found You)

Written By: Shane & Amber Reed

First Verse:

I’d been wanderin’ down roads that looked the same;
Places without any names;
Dreamin’ ‘bout the girl I’d someday meet;
Walkin’ alone on those streets;
I thought those days would never end;
That’s when I met my best friend.

Chorus:

I cherish the day I found you;
Moments now gone by;
From the minute I first saw you;
Your eyes said you’d be mine.

Now I’m here,
wanting you near;
When will this day end?
So I can see, my best friend?

Second Verse:

Hand in hand, we stroll along life’s streets;
Together aint nothin’ we can’t beat;
My love for you would somehow keep you strong;
Now I’m not sure what went wrong;
I hoped our days would never end;
But somehow, I failed you my friend!

Chorus:

I cherish the day I found you;
Moments now gone by;
From the minute I first saw you;
Your eyes said you’d be mine.

Now I’m here;
Wantin’ you near;
When will this day end?
So I can see, my best friend?

3rd Verse:

Our roads on earth have many curves and bends;
I prayed the Lord would help you to mend;
Your time in life with me was way too brief;
Girl, I can hardly stand my grief;
I begged your days would never end;
That’s when I lost my best friend.

Bridge:

I’m so alone;
Now that you’re gone;
When will I see you again?
I never thought that you would end . . .

Chorus:

I cherish the day I found you;
Moments now gone by;
From the minute I first saw you;
Your eyes said you’d be mine.

Now, I’m here;
Year after year;
When will this all end?
So I can be . . . with you again?
