Bio

Shannon and the Rhythm King Band was formed and began playing the Kansas City blues circuit in 2000. They were the first Kansas City band to SELL OUT Knuckleheads Saloon, a KC venue awarded the International Blues Foundation's, "Keepin the Blues ALive", Best Blues Club 2008 and voted KCs BEST Live Music in 2009. Check out KC venue links.
Allen Locke is the music director and lead guitarist. Locke masterfully weaves his rock and funk influences into the blues. Shannon's voice has been described as unique and powerful, sultry and moving. She is often asked to sing her versions of Janis Joplin, Bonnie Raitt and Susan Tedeschi songs. Shannon enjoys invoking the emotion that arise from a variety and range of the blues, rock and funk cover songs the band performs. The band also performs their own material, a mix of the similar styles of music homespun their way. The band most recently released two singles, "Peace is in Style" a reaction to the Peace being sold to our society while we are at war. "The Road Home", the first balad written by Locke and Basham. SRK has opened for Walter Trout, Guitar Shorty, Eric Sardinas, Michael Burks, Charlie Musslewhite, Ronnie Baker Brooks, Bernard Alison, Hamilton Loomis, Jim Suhler, Tommy Bolins "Energy" Tribute Band.
