It looks like 2009 has a handful of great
bands emerging from the Chicago Music
Scene. They all have been veteran’s on the
scene for years, but this new collaboration
between hip hop emcee Cameron Mcintosh
(Abitight) and rock goddess Elyse Dequina
(Youth Dekay) are making a new blended
drink with a little bit of this and a little bit
of that that will have anyone noticing. Matt
on the programming side makes every
track bounce, and Rachel Toxic have been
included on a few tracks on keys and is
almost like a perfect melting of cheese on
top of a perfect Chicago style pizza. Each
song is as colorful as the artwork on their
cover. - Editorial Intern

These guys have been doing their thing a for a minute on the scene, this project will hopefully get more heads turning with their mixture of Rock/ Hip Hop/ Electro. They are bright and fresh and rubs elbos with Chicago's finest of today's music scene. - Ed Wards

With members of this band not being strangers from the music scene, Cameron (aka Abitight from Abstract Giants - Vocalist) played Vans Warped Tour 04 on the Ernie Ball Stage, not to mention House of Blues sharing the stage with RZA of Wu-Tang
Elyse Dequina (Youth Dekay-Guitar) has been on Vans Warped Tour 06 on the Gritty in Pink stage, also landed a spot on the stage's compilation release of their artists that year including Joan Jett

Rachel Toxic (new installment to the team on the keys) (ILV Clothing Company) tours every summer as a merchant on Ozzy Osbourne's Ozzfest™, not to mention her own brand Rachel Toxic™ Art and Apparel

Matt (programming) being a new comer to the front end of things have been working silently behind the scenes producing with local Chicago artists

with occasional DJ Annalyze (Jimmey Kimmel Show with B Real of Cypress Hill ,pre and post parties of the 2008 Grammy's to backing artists such as Dj Quik & Lady Sovereign) make this team a match made in heaven. With their rock/electro/hip-hop vibe they blend in to diverse line-ups and giving a little bit to everyone. A compilation disc on the way with up and coming Clothing Company Sequence In Scenes, debut ep being released in March in the new year, a handful of radio shows makes this group to keep an eye out for this coming year.

When it comes to Shapes and Sounds you either love ‘em or hate ‘em. Their debut ed 'Mindless Matter" is pop mainstream meets tongue-in-cheek indie with a dash of lip-glossed charisma. The band’s name, inspired by their producer's moniker "Shapeless" and the word "Sounds" coming from Elyse is self explanatory. An onomatopoeia for an idea, like the light bulb above a cartoon characters head. Think Bloc Party slapping Kanye in the face before they got bored with themselves and the flower child is Shapes and Sounds. "Mindless Matter" has the potential to skyrocket on the charts and surpass that one hit wonder curse that first albums often behold.
“Panic” as heard on a handful of college stations, shows Cameron's youthful energy, while Elyse makes it an interesting frenzy in your ear, with her electric vibe.
"Neon” is a chant that is relentlessly catchy. It makes you feel as if you’ve been played in a game of reverse psychology. It’s an invective against objectification; think an inverse of The White Stripes. Throughout the album you can hear Cameron's self-righteous and individuality shining among Elyse sketched in instrumental color.

Overall you will listen over and over until you suffer ear convulsion, because this ep is addictive. You will wake up humming the songs, and will be able to hear them a mile away because you will be a recognization ninja, and the music videos will play and pause and fast forward in your brain. Note to self: new obsession/guilty pleasure: Shapes and Sounds - Ashley Adams
