When Shara Maxwell enters into the room, the audience stops. Standing at six-feet and engaging a delightful, velvet-like voice, this vocal vixen personifies the core of classic jazz and blues standards, carving a nook in the hearts of her listeners.
Chicago saxophone player, Von Freeman, who bestowed Shara with the nickname ‘Long, Tall and Mellow” i.e. "LTM" not due to her model looks, but as a result of his admiration of her vocal dexterity and style.
Shara has been featured at Chicago’s top venues, including Pops for Champagne, The Drake Hotel, Underground Wonder Bar, Andy's Jazz Bar, Sip, Zebra Lounge, Biggs Restaurant, Gibsons, Untitled Supper Club, The Bedford, The High Hat and others.
She has opened for blues guitarist Stanley Jordan and worked among side top jazz musicians in the Chicago scene, including jazz great Eric Schneider, Dennis Luxion, Alejandro Urzagaste, Dennis Carroll, Rob Amster, Lloyd Wilson, Willie Pickins, Pat Mallinger, Jon Deitemyer, Joe Pollicastro and many more.
