"Tuesday 30th"

Sharif Iman This New York-born, Virginia-raised and now local singer-songwriter bridges the gap between acoustic troubadour stylings and contemporary lover-man soul of the D'Angelo/Ginuwine variety. He's got a great voice, a gift for lilting melody and an astute knowledge of how to surround his guitar with satiny, sophisticated instrumentation. Let him woo you at 12th & Porter.

"past couple weekends"

Let me tell you about this guy. If you have NEVER seen this person on stage perform you need to. I'm talking about Sharif Iman. This guy is CRUCIAL. He and his band were already on stage when I walked inside. Sharif and his band of thieves will steal your existence if you stay too long. His energy on stage is so breath taking.......and to top the night Big Fella and his posse was in the house and got on stage with Sharif and helped turn the place up side down.

Bio

I was Born in Ithica, New York, I can't really remember a time when I didn't have music in my life. I came from a line of musicians in the family. As a child I was always so fascinated with music, the different styles, instruments, singing. My home was a melting pot mecca. It involved all things: passion, love, pain, rage, good times, bad times, tears, joy. Music was life and it flowed through my viens like fire. I watched, learned and applied everything into my own interpretation. I began my story. I was raised on all the goods, nothing was left out: soul, rythm and blues, rock, jazz, folk, gospel, classical, country, even streaming into multi-world music no holds bar. My influences, well Stevie Wonder, Lionel Ritchie, The Eagles, James Taylor, Billy Holliday, Marvin Gaye, Earth Wind and Fire, The Police, Stevie Nicks, Stevie Ray Vaughn, John Coletrain, Miles Davis, Led Zeplin, Commadors, Micheal Heges, Chaka Kahn, Peter Gabriel, Seal....just for starters.
