"New Album Leak from Sharif [2012]"

harif J.B. Wilson - Times (ft. Personal)

Electronic crooner/producer Personal raised a high degree of anticipation for his debut project Sydney In Theory last year, but it looks like the project will be strategically delayed until a better time. To hold us over, here’s a recent feature he did with rapper/producer/singer Sharif J.B. Wilson (fun fact: Sharif produced Big Boi’s track “Be Still” with Janelle Monae off the Sir Lucious Left Foot LP). This track is a straight up trip, going from moody pianos to tribal sounds to near psychedelic ambiance. Add in Sharif’s introspective raps and Personal’s auto-tuned accessory vocals and you got something really distinct. - Back2Pluto

Bio

Sharif was once the kid who had dreams of being a hoop star following the likes of his favorite NBA players, such as Kobe Bryant and Magic Johnson. It didn't take long into his high school years to realize he didn't have the flame to take his hoop dreams to its limits - not compared to music at least.

After spending most of his teenage years starting from the age of 13 perfecting his production skills on different computer based music production software, it wasn't long after until he began exploring the ropes of being an artist. At the age of 19, Sharif and a couple of friends started a band "NOREGARD", music composed of brash N*E*R*D/neptunian inspired rock elements against hardcore hip hop canvas, experimental to say the least. After a few months experimenting in a friends basement and creating a few never released EP's, the then "Mel-V", now Sharif decided to take his unique talents to explore a solo career.

In the fall of 2009, Sharif was invited to Stankonia Studios (Outkast Studio) to work with the engineers on an in house project. After about a week of churning out tracks, Sharif went home feeling like he still couldn't discover his niche in music. A few months later he received a phone call from one of the house producers at Stankonia (Royal Flush) that one of his tracks had been chosen for Big Boi's latest release "Sir Lucious Left foot" on - Be Still featuring Janelle Monae.

As of late, Sharif has been dedicating all of his creative energy and focus into crafting his solo project "EXPRESSIONS (c)" - which he says will be his most honest and colorful collective of songs to date. Though he says its very indie pop & new wave inspired, "I found me" says Sharif in regards to this project, set to release sometime in 2012.
