"Aahh! Fest Takes Union Park in Celebration of 'One Chicago'"

“#AHHFest "We love them as artists, and they are great people," said Shantel Jarmon, also known as SharmonJarmon! "The fact they made a whole part of the festival where we are on the same stage they'll be on, it's wonderful." She performed a soulful song and, like many performers, shared messages of anti-violence, saying at the end of her set: "People kill people. Guns don't kill people."” - DNA info Chicago

What music do you produce?

Alternative Soul/R&B

How and when did you get started?

I’ve been writing songs since 8th grade but I started talking it seriously in college. After hitting the open mic scene a few times I started to believe in my gifts and I’ve been persuing my music career for 5 years now.

In one sentence, briefly describe your sound.
If Sade, Coldplay and Michael Jackson had a baby it would sound like her soft sultry voice grooving over funky jazz sounds with an electronic twist that’s sure to make you dance.

How does FLATS Micro Series benefit musicians like yourself?

I believe it allows the art of music to be exposed to a broader audience outside of the typical venue space. Music shouldn’t be confined to only concerts because music is the soundtrack to many of our lives. Plus I love performing in unconventional places!

How is a platform to perform powerful to your industry?

I use music as a way to heal. I battle with the idea of depression and I use music to not just heal myself but allow others the space to release, relax and enjoy themselves. In the time in America I think a lot of people are afraid, hurt, angry among other emotions. I want to be that bridge toward happiness for them through music - Flat Studios

"SoulBounce Exclusive: Sam Trump & SharmonJarmon! Take Us On A Romantic Journey To ‘Spain’"

“SharmonJarmon!'s soft, alluring vocal arrives along with a samba-like rhythm that sways ever so gently while painting a lovely picture. "Lovin' you in the moonlight, your kisses sweeter than my mama's pie / As we dance all through the night," Sam sings before Sharmon offers the chorus: "Take our love to Spain / We can go to Spain / Take our love to Spain / Todos los noches / Vamos bailar."” - Soul Bounce

"SharmonJarmon!: Music, Film & Much More"

SharmonJarmon! has a powerful and resilient energy. As a singer, songwriter, film maker, producer, etc, she still finds time to practice self care. I am thankful that I had the opportunity to interview her. She really left an impression on me as she explained how she maintained her energy along with all her responsibilities. She is in her third season of her docu-series called Known Series, and if you haven’t listened to Volume 1 of the Sunflower Series, it’s on YouTube. Definitely worth a listen.
