"Around the Town"

Sharon Cline, an exciting young vocalist gave a surprisingly enjoyable concert at Nonya restaurant in Pasadena today...Endowed with a mesmerizing stage presence and wonderful vocal range, Sharon Cline and her trio enlivened the Nonya Jazz Brunch hours, singing playing familiar Great American Songbook standards. During our visit at the restaurant, Cline sang "Come Rain or Come Shine" with just the right touch in emotionalizing the Johnny Mercer lyrics. Other songs she did included "Fly Me To the Moon," "Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered" and "I Can't Give You Anything But Love." She enjoys the standards and gave us stirring renditions of many, like " I've Got You Under My Skin" & "Love for Sale"... and the playful "Too Close for Comfort." Sharon Cline and The Bad Boyz of Jazz, a first class act in every way was the piece de resistance of the Sunday Jazz Brunch menu. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon. -Bob Agnew

Hailing from Jacksonville, Florida, Sharon Cline is a vibrant young vocalist who brings a unique and distin-guished sense of jazz history to her song styling. Her brilliant interpretations of standards, show tunes and classic jazz ballads leave a lasting impression on her listeners that is truly unforgettable! She is exciting, sexy, joyful and mesmerizing. Sharon’s style is reminiscent of a time gone by, yet is distinctively contemporary.

Growing up in a very musical household, Sharon was influenced by the great torch singers she heard playing on her mother’s phonograph. All day long, the sounds of Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughn, Ella Fitzgerald, Nancy Wilson, Frank Sinatra and Nat King Cole resounded throughout her home. Sharon fell in love with the romantic melodies and lush harmonies of this timeless American music. She longed to become a great interpreter of the tender and dreamy lyrics of such renowned composers as Ira Gershwin, Cole Porter, and Jerome Kern.

From her first experience singing for a live audience, Sharon knew that music was to be her life.

While studying musical theatre at The University of Florida, Sharon continued to broaden her horizons as a performer. She appeared as the featured vocalist in revues that showcased the music of composers such as George and Ira Gershwin, Jule Styne, Cole Porter, and Irving Berlin.

After entertaining throughout the southeast, Sharon felt the urge to "Go West", and relocated to Los Angeles. She continues to be a sought after headlining performer at some of the most elegant rooms in Tinsel Town, such as the Atlas Supper Club, Lunaria Jazz Lounge, Spazio, The Cinegrill, Monsoon, The Beverly Hills Ho-tel, The Jonathan Club, and many others. Recently, Buddy Bregman, world-renowned arranger and musical director, invited her to perform at the fabulous Paris Hotel in Las Vegas. Since then, she has been invited back to perform at other notable Las Vegas venues such as The Blue Note and the Venetian Hotel’s WB Stage 16. In April 2003, Sharon dazzled Florida audiences with her performance at the Jacksonville Jazz Festival, and shared the bill with such legends as Nancy Wilson, Ramsey Lewis and Tony Bennett.

Sharon’s extensive background in musical theatre and concert performance is unmistakably expressed through her eloquent poise and lighthearted humor. The Divine Ms. Cline invites her enchanted listeners to join her on a magical journey through the captivating history of the American Songbook. She fondly dubs the world-class musicians who accompany her on piano, bass, sax and drums as "The Bad Boyz of Jazz".
