"Sharve' - Love Easy"

What Inspired You To Make This Song?
The song was written and produced by 4ALL Music Group, LLC from Houston, Texas (Drathoven JadaPen, and ProdusaFred). When I first heard the song, I like how it infused the rich and soulful quality of the 80’s and 90’s music with the feel of today’s music. I felt it could capture old and young audiences.

Independent. At the current time, I am focusing on making good music independently and building my own empire. In the future, I may choose to work with a label if the opportunity is a great one.

"Miss Black American Teen 2015, Kayla Sharve' Baker"

Anything is possible when you believe says Miss Black American Teen Kaylah Sharve Baker. The 15-year-old wants to inspire other little girls to believe in the possible no matter their circumstance. “I want to be a role model to young girls and let them know that their dreams matter and they can be anything they want to be if they first have faith in themselves,” expressed Kaylah.

Kayla has chosen to focus her service efforts advocating for the homeless. Tapping into her generation, Kaylah will use her reign to light a fire among youth and her peers to help the homeless through the donation of goods and volunteering with organizations who serve those in need. In addition, she will spearhead community events for others to be more aware of the homeless epidemic across our nation.

While she encourages others to believe in their dreams Kaylah is making her dreams come true. With a voice far more mature than her young years, Kaylah has a dream of attending New York University’s School of Performing Arts to pursue a career in entertainment. And she is well on her way. The rising star debuted her first album in 2013 and is hard at work on her next single.

Besides music, Kaylah loves to act and model. She has appeared in a number of community theatre productions and starred in several plays. Plus, Kaylah was the face for a national print campaign for an electronic and textbook company.

Kaylah has a busy life but still manages to maintain honor roll status as a sophomore high school student. When not in the classroom or center stage, Kaylah can be seen giving back. She started the iKool (Kreating Our Own Legacy) Foundation with her younger sister Kiera in 2012 for the purpose of encouraging kids to use their creative talents. She also volunteers her time with the Houston Food Bank, Star of Hope, Ronald McDonald House, and Black Celebrity Giving. Kaylah believes in God and very active at her home church.

"Feature Story - Sharve'"

Big things are around the corner for this 14 year old vocal powerhouse. Sharve began performing at the young age of 7 and has appeared at countless talent competitions, festivals, pageants, and other events. Most recently, she was invited to perform at the Houston Rockets Kids Night.

Inspired by the greats such as Whitney Houston, Sharve is going to take the world by storm with her debut single “What You Think I’m On” featuring Young Marqus which is available on iTunes. She is in the process of recording new music and her debut EP is scheduled to be released in 2014. I caught up with Sharve for an interview and she told me all about her music and what it was like sharing the stage with Mindless Behavior and Young Marqus.

Olivia: How did you get your start in the industry?

Sahrve: I’ve been singing and performing since I was seven years old doing shows around Houston. That’s how I met my current manager.

Olivia: When did your love for singing start?

Sharve: There’s no doubt I was born with the gift of singing, but I really found out that I loved doing it at the age of three. I was sourounded by music my whole childhood because my dad is a worship leader at our church. That encouraged me to start writing my own music by six years old.

Olivia: Tell us about your music.

Sharve: I would definitely say my music is Pop/R&B. I love doing songs that teens can relate to.

Olivia: What was it like sharing the stage with Mindless Behavior and Young Marqus?

Sharve: It was unreal! Just a year before I was at one of their concerts watching them onstage and now a year later I was onstage with them! It was an awesome experience.

Olivia: What kind of music did you listen to growing up?

Sharve: Since my father was a worship leader, I grew up listening to gospel and a lot of R&B. Artists like Mary Mary, John Legend, and Beyonce.

Olivia: Who would be your dream collaboration?

Sharve: That’s a tough one, but I’d have to say collaborating with Jacob Latimore would be amazing. He’s such an inspiring artist! I love that he can sing, dance and act!

Olivia: How do you balance your school and singing career?

Sharve: I have definitely learned how to juggle school and my music. When I’m on the road I take all my school work with me. I think it’s very important that I keep my grades up. I don’t do many extra carricular activities at school because I’m so focused on classes and just doing music. I’m proud to say that I keep a 3.8 GPA while still being able to do what I love!

Olivia: How would you describe your fashion style?

Sharve: Definiely edgey and fun! I like to incorrporate bright colors into what I’m wearing.

Olivia: Are you working on any projects that you can share with our readers?

Sharve: Yes, I’m working on more music for my upcoming EP!

Olivia: What can listeners expect to hear from your EP?

Sharve: Some fun and upbeat songs that targets teens with a positive message! I’m all about sending a positive message to my fans.

Olivia: What do you do for fun?

Sharve: I’m a teenager! I love hanging out with my friends and having sleepovers; going to the movies and shopping!

Olivia: Is there one thing your fans may not know about you?

Sharve: When the cameras come on I become very focused and serious, but offset I am super goofy and love being funny.

Olivia: What are you looking forward to in 2014?

Sharve: I’m hoping I can work with some more wellknown artists and just be in the studio more. I would love to travel as much as possible. And just being able to promote me and my music!
