"Sharzy to Launch Latest Album In Four Countries."

Popular Solomon Islands music icon Sharzy will simultaneously launch his fifth album titled "Umi Flow" on Saturday the 1st of November in four regional countries.

Mr. Sharzy says the album which has a mixture of zook, raggaton and island will be launched in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu and New Caledonia.

Sharzy with his band members, Ronnie Riti or otherwise known as 'Paeva' and Ms. Rinetta Bennett will leave today to launch the album in Port Vila's Central FM 107.

Sharzy says the launch in Solomon Islands will be at the ZFM 100 studio, upon their return.

He says the album will be in cassettes and CDs but didn't say whether or not there will be any video clips made.

Sharzy, Paeva and Ms. Bennett are famous for their unique style ranging from love songs to dance music. The three also rocked the recent Pacific Arts Festival in American Samoa, with their music.

"Sharzy off to Aussie for weekend gigs"

ONE Of Pacific’s most popular and successful artists ‘Sharzy’ yesterday flew off to Australia for a three night show, lining alongside some of Australia’s famous artists and DJ’s.

Sammy Saeni or Sharzy as most commonly referred to in the music arena will be touring Cairns, Townsville and Darwin over the weekend to perform nightly gigs alongside famous Australian entertainers DJ Lenno Savage and Cat Thompson.
Speaking before his departure yesterday, Mr Saeni said that all three shows will be performed in the three cities.

“Arriving in Cairns today (yesterday) I will meet up with DJ Lenno and Cat Thompson and then perform our first gig.

“We will then head to Townsville on Friday for another gig there and then onwards to Darwin for the final show,” Mr Saeni said.

Mr Saeni who had started performing gigs with other famous artists in Australia and around the Pacific last year, said that lining up alongside this world renowned entertainers is a new experience that he would very much want to involve in.

Asked if he will be performing new songs during his weekend tour? Mr Saeni answered that he will only be performing his old classics however with an upper techno beat to it.

“Instead of doing new songs, I will perform my old classics however with more techno beat and groove to it, giving it more flavor as the gigs will be played in nightclubs in these three different places,” he said.

He added that through such, he is paving the way for other talented Solomon Island artists to also get involved.

“During my previous outings, I have promoted some of our very own talented artists such as; Devande, Taina Gee, Onetoks and DMP, our Solomon style of music is indeed well appreciated by Australians-we do have a market out there,” he said.

Asked what his message to young aspiring music talents in the country?

He answered; “Make use of your potentials and your talent, experiment different styles of music-you never know maybe in the future you can be one of the hottest music talents of our country.”

Sharzy is expected back in the country on Monday upon completion of his weekend gigs.

"Sharzy celebrates 10th anniversary of SI music"

SOLOMON Island renowned local artist Sammy Saeni known as Sharzy will be celebrating his 10th anniversary of making music in the Solomon Islands this weekend.


Three shows are been organised to mark the event, the first show will be staged tonight at Club Xtreme, Heritage Park hotel while two of his gigs will be held at the waterfront club, east Honiara.
Papua New Guinea musician Justin Wellington is in the country to celebrate Sharzy’s 10th anniversary.


The PNG musician will assist the solo artist in his shows along with Solomon Islands local artists like DMP, Wantoks, Taina Gee and Dehvande.


“Yes, this week I’m celebrating my tenth year of making music in the Solomons and it does not feel like its been ten years though, it’s more like three years,” said Sharzy.


The artist said the reason is because he is too busy with work, music, tours, gigs and family.


“Marking my 10th anniversary is a great achievement for me and it doesn’t happen naturally, it is with dedication, commitment and being consistent,” he said.


He added there are tireless and tremendous people behind the scene who believed so much in his music career that he earned such recognition as music awards and being heard on all shores in the pacific.


“It does happen through the hardworking radio announcers who played a major role in promoting not only our local and pacific music but overseas as well for the entire population to hear every now and then.


“Further more the public at large who consists of fans, friends, wantoks, visitors and with the help of the internet, makes music accessible and it gets everywhere.”


He said if someone asked did you benefit in those ten years. What stage are you in, in the past ten years in terms of beneficiary?


“Music and it does work. I had been benefiting from it under copyrights.”


Sharzy said once you’re signed under a copyright organisation for publishing, you will go silent and don’t want to make a lot of noise.


“Today, I’m celebrating a handful of experiences in the local music industry and still enjoying writing lyrics, making tunes, arrangements and a happy person with my passionate talent, music,” Sharzy said.

Sharzy has won 3rd Prize in World Category in the 2011 International Songwriter Competition (ISC) for his song "AKEIO".

Sharzy produced his first solo album "Aloha" in 2001, which became an instant hit. Since then he has released "Aelan feel'n" (2003), "Aelan Wei" (Pijin for "island way") (2008), "Hem Stret" (2008), "Yumi Flo" (2009), "Iu Mi Flow" (2010), "Pacific Beauty" (2011) and Mako Mai (2011). He sings in many languages including Simbo, Roviana, and Solomon Islands Pijin. He also has tracks in Tok Pisin (PNG) and in English.

He has been described by The Guardian as one of the Solomon Islands' "living national icons"

Sharzy, one of the most widely loved entertainer and profoundly influential artists from Solomon Islands. Sharzy is from Simbo Island Western Province and malaita Island. He's real name is Samson Saeni. He has released 6 hits Albums since 2001. His musical career began in 1995 when he joined the 2-4-1 band. He produced his first solo album "Aloha" in 2001, which became an instant hit.

To mark 10 years in as a Solo artist, Sharzy has toured the Pacific and Australia in 2011. To this day, the demand for his music is high as ever before.

Sharzy got his Music name from his local dialect of Malaita which means Brother. The name is now a household name throughout the Pacific Islands but especially loved and admired in the Solomon Islands and Papua New Guinea.
