Biography

Shatara Curry straight out of Jersey graduated from Kean University with a B.A. in public communication, which she calls a degree in being a chatter box. Having the gift of gab, or simply loving people enough to share her opinion of their behavior to them allows her jokes to flow naturally. Getting on stage for the first time at the Boston Comedy club in New York (the same place Dave Chapelle started), Shatara learned from top urban comics how to work the stage. Bringing many of her influences such as her domineering father who always asked her large family at the dinner table every night "who's the boss of the hot sauce was" into her routine. Watching Shatara you get the sense immediately that she loves being a woman in all it's glory. Shatara brings to the table honest yet edgy views of an intelligent black woman which has audiences laughing out loud when they hear the clever way she puts humor into every subject from D.L brothers to relationships to politics to her 9-5 as a recreational therapist of mental health patients. With such a unique view on life she was cast as the starring role for the Award winning independent film GOLDDIGGER KILLER. Her standup is regularly scene on the stages of many of the top Comedy Clubs in New York City like Laugh Factory Carolines on Broadway and The Improv Comedy Club.
