I've played in blues/rock/pop band Wide Mouth Mason for 13 years. We are still together and working on our next record, but no longer musically monogamous.
My acoustic set aspires to the shape and energy of a rock concert. This is anything but a sad bastard strumming an open G chord emoting his earnestness at his shoes. With my band I've played some of the biggest stages on earth, and in front of some of the toughest crowds as an opener. I've learned to sock it to them proper and an acoustic setting makes that even more challenging and fun.
My latest solo album, Two Steel Strings was recorded live on a vintage train, (circa 1916), as it traveled from Montreal to Vancouver. I engineered it in the locomotive, boxcar, sleeper and passenger cars. It's a snapshot of our country, its history and the people whose first glimpse of Canada was from the rails. The stories are told in stomp blues, new old folk and solo acoustic rock songs, and are accompanied by the signature sounds of the train clickety-clacking down the track.
