Bio

Shavonne Michelle Edwards, born and raised in Philadelphia has been singing professionally since the age of 9 years old. Reared in church she quickly became known as the little girl with the big voice. Shavonne began to stretch her boarders after winning numerous talent shows and awards. She also won the attention of various producers and promoters. By the age of 13, Shavonne would find herself in the studio recording her first hit single entitled, “Living for Jesus”. Winning the hearts of many once again with her radiant character and belting vocals, Shavonne landed a tour with the legendary Winans at the age of 14 as an opening performer.

Shavonne is an alumnus of the prestigious Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts. It was during this time where she would be classmates with Boyz to Men, Chris McBride, Joey Defrancesco and others. Shavonne began to vocally train under Mr. Donald Dumpson, Marilyn Moore and Roscoe Gill. She received mentorship from opera diva the late Joy Simpson. Her vocal training extended into various genres of music which includes classical, jazz and gospel. Shavonne has gleaned from various vocal legends such as Whitney Houston, Ella Fitzgerald, Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan, Tramaine Hawkins and others as she would refer to them as mentors.

Shavonne would later join a local choir named Michael Scott and the Outreach Choir. She was featured on several albums as the lead singer.  Shavonne could be heard belting out notes on tunes such as: (Stellar Nominated)“Lord, I Want To Be Effective”, “Holy Spirit”, “Trust In Jesus” (which was a duet with Twinkie Clark of the Clark Sisters), and many other songs. Due to Shavonne's vocal performance on the project it warranted the group a recording contract with Intersound Records.

Shavonne has traveled extensively across the United States and abroad ministering in song. She has sung for numerous political affairs such as NAACP, National Caucus for State Legislators, State Representative Louis Williams-Bishop, Councilman David Richardson, former Mayor Wilson Goode and others. She has shared the stage with gospel artists as well as secular artist such as Jean Carne, Freddie Jackson, The Winans, The Clark Sisters, Lou Rawls, Stevie Wonder, Patti Labelle, Donnie McClurkin, Peter Nero and the Philly Pops and others either as an opening act or background vocalist.

Furthering her career in the entertainment field Shavonne enjoyed her theatrical training and performances as well. Studying theater performance at the legendary Freedom Theater caused her to leap into roles on stage. She has performed in various productions and looks forward to sharing her musical and theatrical skills in other productions as well.
If one would ask who is Shavonne Edwards they would have to say in return that she is a quiet storm waiting to be heard. She continues to move audiences wherever she is heard. Some leave laughing, some leave crying but many are encouraged and left wanting for more.
