"Shawn & Dee Ouellette - You Can't Erase Me - "The Bottom Line""

-5 Star Review

This fantastic brother and sister duo started singing very early on in their lives, had a family band for 6 years and are now out on their own pursuing their dream of performing and making wonderful music together. While listening to this CD I found their voices refreshing to hear, they have such great harmony together.
My favorite on this album is "The Big Time" - first song on the CD written by Shawn, is an upbeat tune talking about making it in the business. Has some wonderful piano and guitar solos in it, I really liked it, a great toe tapping tune. A close second is the cover of "He Drinks Tequila," originally sung by Sammy Kershaw & Lorrie Morgan. A great Spanish two-step song, I can just imagine seeing them performing this song and having a great time with it.

There really isn't a bad song on this album, Shawn is a great writer and they have a real knack of singing together with their harmony and all. I really can't wait to see what they have in store for their next endeavor. I'm really looking forward to it. If you get a chance, I say go to their web-site and check it out for yourself and see what I mean.

Bio

We are a brother and sister duo born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and raised in Spruce Grove, Alberta, Canada. We've been singing and playing music together for the last fourteen years or so. Our performances include a combination of contemporary country songs mixed with some traditional country music, old rock 'n roll, and original material. Currently, we are without a band, so we perform with backtracks and/or a guitar played by Shawn.

From the time we were very young, music was constant in our family. It seemed that wherever we went there was always a radio turned on. We grew up listening to both country music and old rock and roll and started singing around the campfire as soon as we were able to talk. For years our Mom & Dad played in a small band and eventually they gave us a chance to enhance our musical talents.

As each of us grew older, music took a back seat to friends, school and a very heavy involvement in sports. Both of us found many successes in both academics and athletics. Eventually, we started a family band (Dad, Mom, our cousin Dallas, and us!) and played various weekends throughout the years entertaining for parties, weddings and anniversaries. During that time we also began entering into singing competitions around the Edmonton area. For quite a while we would compete against each other, finding that we would end up canceling each other out by the end of the competition. We finally decided to start performing as a duet and we began having more success than ever before. "Who'd have thought two voices were better than one!"

In 2001 we won the Global Country Vocal Spotlight that takes place each year during the CFR (Canadian Finals Rodeo). Part of our prize package was becoming members of the Global Country Rising Star Program which was created by the CEO of the Global Country Heritage Foundation, Maryanne Gibson.

Since then, we have had some amazing opportunities to perform in a wide variety of venues ranging from breakfast meetings and Klondike Days (Capital Ex) to opening for The Good Brothers and for Kenny Hess. In 2003, 2004 and 2005 we were part of the first, second and third Rising Star Tours (created by Maryanne Gibson). We have now graduated from the program and are Rising Star Alumni Artists.

To date, some of the highlights of our singing career have been singing at Rexall Place during the 2001 CFR (Canadian Finals Rodeo), attending the CRS (Country Radio Seminar) in Nashville, TN in 2002, attending the CCMA Awards (2003, 2004) and working together on our first 6 song album You Can't Erase Me (2004). We've also had the honor of being part of the Festival of Stars Concert held each year at Edmonton's Winspear Center.

In our opinion, it is a rare and special thing to perform as a brother & sister act. Our relationship with our parents has always been strong and because of that, we have a strong and unique relationship with each other. We feel that we are truly blessed to do what we do and we are honored to be able to share our music.
