Biography

"He's spectacular…Shawn plays with the authority of someone who's been playing for a really, really long time." - Colin Linden

Guitar wizard Shawn Kellerman is poised to join the innercircle of musicians who define modern blues. Traditional forms are reinterpreted — a not-so-subtle union of past and present delivered with ferocious authenticity.

Shawn understood from the beginning that true blues is a cultural tradition, passed down directly from today's masters to the next generation. As a result, Shawn spent 5 years in Mississippi and Washington D.C., living, playing and touring with such notable blues artists as Mel Brown, Deborah Coleman, and Bobby Rush. Shawn was a regular on topdraw blues stages playing the Chitlin' Circuit and the Five-Star Touring Scene and has performed hundreds of international gigs in over 20 countries.

These years on the road gave birth to Shawn's trademark live stage presence, an unforgettable high-energy assault on the audience that is as much felt as heard. Over the years Shawn has also earned the status of a highly respected guest artist for
numerous live shows and recording sessions. Shawn has recently appeared on stage with W.C. Handy Award Nominee Paul Reddick and Hohner Harmonica World Award Winner Carlos Del Junco. His powerful playing was also featured on Michael Pickett's Juno nominated CD "Conversation with the Blues" and in 2005 Shawn was invited to play at The House of Blues 80th birthday celebration for B.B. King.

With his second CD recorded, Shawn is ready to take his career to the next level. Featuring all original material, Shawn's new compositions are based in the blues and draw from elements of rock, soul, jazz and even hip hop to create a crossover sound that has resounding appeal across many traditional boundaries. "Land of A Thousand Dreams", co-written with Mark Whittington in Mississippi, reflects a distinctive influence of the deep south, while the hip hop inspired "Bug'N Shawn" shows the expanse of Shawn's creative range.

On CD and on stage, Shawn's music is an experience that lingers in the memory long after the last note has been played.

"Shawn hit the stage smoking with energy and left it dripping in sweat."
Tim Holek (Blues on Stage Internet Review)

Lyrics

The Big Time

Written By: Shawn Kellerman / Katrina DiGravio

Had My Chances
And I had my breaks
Had lots of advice, and I made my mistakes
If I just played some country, or just played some pop.
They said by now you would be at the top
Of the big time

The Big Time ain't about the fortune and fame
It's all about, playing the game
It'll put a hole in your soul
The Big Time is going to go just as fast as it came
In the Big Time

Women tell me, what I need
They shake it in my face, offering samples too me
They say, I'll stick with you baby, from dusk until dawn, or until the money is gone

The Big Time ain't about the fortune and fame
It's all about, playing the game
It'll put a hole in your soul
The Big Time is going to go just as fast as it came
In the Big Time

In the Big Time, I said the Big Time
In the Big Time

I seen them crash and burn, I seen them rise fall, i seen them take a wrong turn, I seen it all

In the Big Time, In the Big Time

Land of a 1000 Dreams

Written By: Kellerman / Whittington

Might Be Something in the coffee
Might be something in the blood
They say it’s in the way the dirty Mississippi river floods

Graveyard of gators pass thru a swamp of souls
Cross the bridge of time - over the line
Your minds lost all control

Slippin’ thru southern moonlight
Uptown magazine
Rollin dice cajun spice
Struttin with a Creole queen

Chorus

Thought I shook my sins
Lord knows I just can’t win
Thought I shook my sins
Here I go again
To the land of a 1000 dreams

Foghorn in the midnight, caught in a river bend (ferry in that river bend)
Feel that heat jaunting the streets
Where a thousand men have sinned

Kneel in the cathedral after all the fun
In my last parade
Take my bones to the st. louis #1

Chorus

Thought I shook my sins
Lord knows I just can’t win
Thought I shook my sins
Here I go again
To the land of a 1000 dreams
