"Critique from John Breheny"

On "Let It Burn:"

A very strong song. Vivid visual imagery.
Uplifting, positive and
inspirational. It stops just this side of being
preachy. Tough to do that
and you pulled it off with a great chorus.

Musically powerful - great dynamics - very
effective structure - good
pre-chorus - goes from intimate and descriptive
to full emotional peak on
the chorus.

Nice work!

-- John Braheny

"Critique from Fame Games Radio"

On "Let It Burn:"

"This is a killer pop-rock track and if there was any justice in this world, it would be earning this artist tons of money even as we speak. It's got "hit" written all over it.
Surely, many labels out there are looking for something exactly like this.
Very well done indeed.

"Comment from Jody Whitesides"

I came across Shawn recently and was like, "D___ this is a pretty darn cool song [`Let It Burn']." So I contacted her about bloggin about the song here. She was cool about it. So here it goes…

I can kind of liken my situation to the story in Shawn’s song. I’m working on stepping away from all that has been weighing me down mentally. See lots of stuff moving forward. Putting some crap in the past and moving on. That’s the whole concept behind today’s song. I like this song on so many levels. One thing is that Shawn’s vocal isn’t typical of most female vocalists. She’s got a unique quality to her voice that feels familiar but different at the same time. I can’t think of another female vocalist to compare her too, yet I like it. That’s a great quality to have in my mind (maybe you the reader, listener has someone you can compare it to - let me know). The production is clean and precise without being distracting.

As you listen to the song several times you’ll start hearing little dabs of sound from different instruments here and there. There’s a few riffs in there that are pretty standard fair and probably in my mind would have been better left off, but hey it’s not my song and despite those little cliché bits they still work. They wouldn’t be cliché if they didnt’ work. That’s the great thing about it. It’s the additional dabs of painted sound in there that really pique my interest and keep me listening to it over and over.

If you haven’t heard of Shawn Vougeot before, you might want to keep it in mind, I think she’s got a good start to success happening. Ooh… I just thought of someone she could be similar to and I bet she’ll feel its an insult - Kelly Clarkson. Kelly has also stepped forward away from her past too, a living example of Shawn’s song. BTW, Vougeot is pronounced Voo-zhoh. Buy her CD now! You won’t be disappointed. How can you with songs like this?

Fronted by Shawn Vougeot (voo-ZHOH) with her undeniable voice and vitalizing rock violin performance,
She Has Issues performs an original artsy story-performance that sets this band apart. Adding the talents of guitarist Doug Hassman, drummer Joe Scanlan, bassist Steve Sorensen, and pianist Greg Anderson,
She Has Issues is collectively loaded with decades of performance experience that crosses genres of rock, pop, gospel, and alternative to intrigue, excite, and inspire audiences of all ages.

It has been said that Vougeot, with She Has Issues, creates music that is "powerful, definitely worth listening time and again...lovely, melodic with some real structure for change," and with a voice that is "soft, clear, at times operatic" and "...entrancing."

She Has Issues is currently performing a one-hour original show where all songs collectively tell the story of a person's journey and ultimate transformation from dependence to independence and personal freedom. This is a multi-media performance that utilizes the projection of video imagery to set the scenes for each song and for the story as a whole.

Where requested, She Has Issues can also perform an additional set showcasing pop/rock covers by artists such as Pink, Brandi Carlisle, Elton John, and others.

She Has Issues thanks you sincerely for your consideration and hopes to have the chance to bring a memorable performance to your music venue.

Further details on Shawn Vougeot...
Trained on classical violin from ten years of age, Vougeot lends her intensity to the dramatic masters Beethoven, Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and Rachmaninoff. Her powerful and precise vocals are a reflection of studying the vocal technique of numerous divas: Whitney, Céline, Mariah, and Lara Fabian. A show performed by Vougeot with She Has Issues is a show not to be forgotten.

Shortly after winning the Grand Prize in the Great American Song Contest of among over three-thousand songs worldwide in 2003 with her power ballad, "Walls of Glass," Vougeot returned to write and produce another hit song, "Let It Burn," with the same Canadian Sony writer/producer Dave Pickell (Bryan Adams, Lara Fabian). In 2005, "Let It Burn," won the Grand Prize in the Great American Song Contest of among over FOUR-thousand songs worldwide. Both "Walls of Glass" and "Let It Burn" are currently being solicited for feature placement on Major Motion Picture soundtracks.

In the near future, Vougeot, who is destined to become the "largest voice for the animals in the music industry," plans to produce an animal advocate show for college touring which will incorporate the projection of animal imagery in hopes, through music and video, to heighten audience awareness of the intrinsic value of our fellow creatures. She is seeking musicians and management for this extensive project.
