Bio
Shea's Gin has a unique story in the lore of metro Atlanta garage bands. This is a group who worked together for the past few years as political operatives in Georgia state politics, but out of the ashes of last November's disappointment decided to try their hands at folk music. The group, as initially conceived by Jason Chitwood and Will Avery was intended to be a stripped down folk/americana sound with minimal drums. However, shortly after forming, Chance Strickland joined the mix on drums and the band decided to give an indie edge to traditional folk and celtic sounds. Soon after Joel Mendelson found his way into the band to round out the sound with the low end on bass. In January of 2011 the band cut their first demo with Patrick Rives at The Odyssey Studio of Athens, Ga. The band's initial Atlanta area shows have been well attended and Shea's Gin is in the process of booking regional shows for the summer of 2011. The band plans to record its debut EP this summer in Athens, GA.
