Songwriter Sheena Demery is having a great year. Her acoustic rock music, a perfect complement to artists like Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, and Sarah McLachlan, is generatingonsiderable industry excitement. The Arlington, Virginia, artist recently showcased her talent in front of industry movers and shakers, caught the interest of not one, but three, record labels, and recorded her first album in Nashville.
Like many talented musicians, Sheena started young, inspired byparents who passed musical passion on to their children. At the age of 8, she picked up the violin and joined in the family's frequent musical jam sessions.
When Sheena was 11, the Broadway musical "Annie" sparked an intense interest in singing and vocals. She spent her high school
years performing in numerous musicals and local choirs, honing her vocal technique.
A turning point came at age 18, when Sheena's Aunt Rose urged her to "go for it" - to dedicate her life's work to music. Sheena took it to heart. She began writing her own songs and performing
them live, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar. Since then, her career has surged forward on the strength of her talent and dedication.
She's been writing songs for 4 years now, and relishes the opportunity to express herself through lyrics and melody. She likes to write about life, love, passion, influence, and thoughtful observation of the surrounding world.
This year, Sheena was invited to showcase in front of music industry impresario Lou Pearlman (Backstreet Boys, 'N SYNC, C-Note, Aaron Carter) and a group of 25 record labels and industry
powerbrokers.
Three labels expressed interest in working with Sheena as a result of her showcase performance. She eventually decided to work with record label Country 1 Source, and recently accomplished a major goal by recording her first album in
Nashville.
The new album will be released to radio and shopped to larger labels in search of wider distribution. Sheena will be promoting the new album while continuing to perform for appreciative
audiences in various venues around Washington, D.C.
